Evo X front license plate mounting
I Lived in SoCal, I got 2 tickets for no front license plate on the way to work,
and one time I parked on the street in front of my house,
they gave me a parking ticket for no front license plate which is like $87...
after that I just used double sided tape.

I know for a fact that there are some states that require a front plate that will allow a specialized sticker in place of the plate. The sticker looks just like a plate and matches your rear plate. I have seen it often on BMW's and Merc's. I live in Illinois and it's not allowed here but if I remember correctly Texas was one of the ones that did allow it.
I will see what I can find and post back if I find anything.

Hence my second post. I could not find anything stating that it was legal or illegal. Simply no information at all. I did find posts and pictures of people that have done it, but nothing relating to legality. I guess it depends on how badly you are against putting holes in your bumper.
From what I have been able to gather so far, there are no laws specifically allowing or rejecting the sticker as the front plate. As long as the sticker meets all the stipulations set in place in your state for the metal plates you can try it. Worst case is the cops will stop you and tell you it's not allowed.
From what I read, the sticker has to be reflective, the proportions must be the same because there are specific font sizes for all the info on the metal plates. The colors have to be exact.
I found a thread on another forum that referenced a shop in Canada that makes them for all 50 states. Here is their posted address and phone number:
Adver Signs

adversign@bellnet.ca
However, any sign shop should be able to make one up for you.
One other option that I was able to find is a motorized plate holder that mounts under the front of the car. With the push of a button the plate comes out the front of the car and flips up.
Just a thought.

I live In Illinois and also we need front plate also
And I wasn't gonna drill holes in bumper
So I had the vinyl plate made Just like a sticker
They scanned the plate and they print on special reflective paper

Where did you get the plate made? Does it come off easy? If left on too long will the paint behind it be a different shade then the rest of the car?
More than likely the paint will be a couple shades off. If you park your car in the sun and whatnot it was not fade evenly. Depends on how long you leave it on though.
That won't fly in NY. Please don't try it you will be arrested no doubt. Anytime you copy/ photocopy a official document ie. License plate, license, registration, inspection sticker. Its called possession of forged instrument. (Felony)
I was able to find a viable alternative, in case anyone is interested. There is a thread on this but they used a different mount and had to drill a hole in the crash bar and remove the front bumper. That was a little too indepth for my taste.
I am sure there are other members that are aware of this but I found Grimspeed makes a front mount license plate holder that attaches to the tow hook mounting hole. I am assuming that most tow hook mounting holes are pretty standard so someone correct me if this is a bad assumption. However, all you do is pop off the plastic cover, screw in the adapter, attach the bracket and mount the plate. Its fully adjustable and goes for $79.99 on the Grimspeed website. Here are some pics. The website states that it works with multiple vehicles but they name the Subi and Hyundai Genesis specifically.

SKENE Design License Plate Holder
Figured I should start contributing to this forums. I have been lurking for a few months since I bought the car in May (Phantom Black 2013). This is "SKENE Design" license plate holder for Evo X.
Originally, I wanted to mount the plate in the center, but the drill hit the crash beam (doh!), so I ended up mounting at the OEM location. Obviously mounting using the tow hook would be best, but USDM model does not have the hole to screw in, you will need to buy JDM crash beam, of which cost about $350+.
"SKENE Design" needs two small holes to be drilled from the bottom, however its best to support the screws with a set of strong double sided tape. The kit comes with double sided tape, but they are weak in my opinion. See attached for pics...

Velcro is a ****ing awesome thing.
I use the factory bracket and 3M heavy duty vehicle mounting tape to stick on the whole bracket. I have gone over the speed of 100mph and it still holds up well. Just to be safe though I take off the tape once every 3 months and put new tape in so that I don't have to worry about license plate falling off. Nobody even notices that I sticked my license plate on because it looks drilled on.
Yeah, just got me a "fix it" ticket the other day... $240 bucks in WA for no front plate! Garbage! Good ol zip ties for now, thinking of trying the Velcro idea, but it's 2013!!! There has to be a better solution!
