Evo X front license plate mounting
Evo X front license plate mounting
Okay, so the cops here in NY are a bunch of losers with nothing else better to do than give me a ticket for having my front plate in the window. I absolutely REFUSE to drill my front bumper for the oem plate mount. Anyone else having the same issues? Id love to hear how you guys are avoiding this daily ticket b.s
I live in Nazifornia and I didn't run a plate on the bumper, I stuck on my dash by the windshield and they would pull me over for that ****. When getting it corrected I just zip-tied it in front of the front mount temporarily.
No plate at all draws less attention than having it jammed in the front windshield. I got pulled over for the same thing a few times and one of the cops actually told me if I didn't have it in my windshield he wouldn't have stopped me.
I've been driving for 10 years without a front plate on any car I've owned without it in the windshield now and have yet to be harassed about it again.

There are many ways to do it:
1. Zip tie it to the side of the IC mesh. Yes, it blocks the airflow. I think it's fine. Many cars have bumper designs that blocks partial IC from factory so it's not that bad.
2. Swift hide-away plate bracket. You may scrape it off if you're not careful. Also, the curved diffuser design of this car makes it hard to install the swift bracket.
3. Go to homedepot and buy a L-shape metal bracket and buy an plate bracket from autozone and fabricate one.
4. Best bet is get the skene bracket and install it where stock location is. You will need to drill 2 holes under it, but you won't see it unless you look from the bottom up.

You have to have two plates in Texas. I heard that law changed on Sep 1st to only requiring one plate. But from what I have read, that goes for cars that are issued plates after the 1st. After this date they will only issue 1 plate and the rear plate is all that is required. But if you were issues 2 plates prior to this date, you are still required to display both.
As with laws, I have no clue what is accurate and what is not. When I bought my car from Don Herring they did not mount the front bracket because they said according to Texas law, it is not going to be required.
I have only been given smack once for no front plate and that was when I was getting on post. But they also make their own rules on post, like no radar detector and no walking and talking on the phone.
A few years ago I was pulled over for no front plate on my Eclipse. The cop ran all my info and I was clean so they let me go with a warning. I would say that if you're driving dirty (no insurance, tags, warrants, drugs, drunk, etc), I would insure you have front plates. If two plates are required by your state, you will always have some cop using that as an excuse to pull you over.

I know for a fact that there are some states that require a front plate that will allow a specialized sticker in place of the plate. The sticker looks just like a plate and matches your rear plate. I have seen it often on BMW's and Merc's. I live in Illinois and it's not allowed here but if I remember correctly Texas was one of the ones that did allow it.
I will see what I can find and post back if I find anything.

my friend didnt wanna drill holes in his camaro SS so he put suction cup mounts on the back of the plate and mounted it that way lol
Like the Suction cups from a radar detector just bigger

Been driving without front plates on three different vehicles for 14+ years and only got a warning for it once, actually got me out of a speeding ticket ironically. I definitely agree with sticking it in the window attracts more attention than not having at it all. If you don't draw attention to yourself by driving like an idiot or going stupid hellaflush you shouldn't ever really be bothered.
From what I have been able to gather so far, there are no laws specifically allowing or rejecting the sticker as the front plate. As long as the sticker meets all the stipulations set in place in your state for the metal plates you can try it. Worst case is the cops will stop you and tell you it's not allowed.
From what I read, the sticker has to be reflective, the proportions must be the same because there are specific font sizes for all the info on the metal plates. The colors have to be exact.
I found a thread on another forum that referenced a shop in Canada that makes them for all 50 states. Here is their posted address and phone number:

However, any sign shop should be able to make one up for you.
One other option that I was able to find is a motorized plate holder that mounts under the front of the car. With the push of a button the plate comes out the front of the car and flips up.
Just a thought.
