Yes, remove the pill. The current recall is the clutch master cylinder, not the slave cylinder.

That's what I meant! Hope between that and the new clutch I'll be set for a while.

I know there are tons of threads on here for clutch reviews but if anyone wants to chime in quick as to what aftermarket clutch they are running and why I should get it, it would help.

I was debating between the Exedy Stg 2 and Works Stg 2.

Also, any suggestions for other things to improve from stock while I have the beast opened up?

The Exedy Stage 2 is a terrible clutch for street use. The Exedy Stage 1 would be a good choice, so is the Works CK2 as you mentioned. You can also look into the Competition Stage 2.

I've been experiencing the same thing, huge clutch slippage in 5th between 3-4k RPMs. It just got pretty cold here, too. I was just going to have my local Mitsu store put a new clutch in while they do my CMC, now you guys have me wondering...

If you remove the pill, the stock clutch has plenty of holding ability. I removed my pill around 3k miles on the odometer and I'm now at 67k making 425whp/400wtq and the stock clutch is still holding perfectly.

Yeah but if you do a couple hard 5k launches and slip the **** out of the clutch chances are that I glazed the clutch and now it's just gonna stay the way it is. It holds fine under normal driving but the second I give it more then 30-40% throttle it slips, not so much in lower gear, mainly in 4/5th.

I'm surprised that it couldn't handle a little more abuse though... I really only launched the car 4 times. But over the course of 3 weeks....

I would like a clutch that can handle a bit more abuse.

Why is the Exedy Stg 2 so bad??

It is a very rough 4-puck design. Engagement is not smooth and you'll hate yourself if you even attempt to drive it in traffic or any type of stop & go situation. It will hold quite a bit of power, especially the HD version, but I'll reserve recommending that clutch to pure track cars and not anything that sees street use.

If you plan to launch the car but still have it be a reasonable daily-driver, get the Competition Stage 2.

Just wanted to stop back into this thread and give everyone an update.

I ended up going with the Competition Clutch Stg3 Ceramic clutch. It's awesome. The stiffer pressure plate and disc combo is nearly perfect for DD use and occasional abuse. It will hold more power then I am currently making so there is some room to grow.

I've had it for around 3k miles now and have no major complaints. The one thing I will say as a negative is that sometimes the engagement point seems to move. It may also have something to do with the CMC pill that was removed.

All in all it gets the power down nicely, drives comfortably and gives great feedback through the pedal. I recommend it to anyone making similar power as I do who would like some room to grow without needing to go back in and do it all over.
