Making my custom CAI box
I was making a more thorough write-up, but I'm a F

'n idiot and deleted all the pix through out the process with intentions of putting them on my laptop and posting them here, so here is what I currently have. Basically just kept measuring and cutting cardboard to make myself a template, which I will transfer to aluminum tomorrow, and paint with some Black spray paint. Will use the stock air duct to help bring cold air to the intake. The part that I scribbled on I plan on making see thru and using some plexi- glass.

will update as I make more progress.

Congrats on a little ingenuity-
Nothing beats the sense of accomplishment from being able to say, " I made That"
I am working on a little cold air induction for my VIII--so great job, take your time and dont forget to sand the aluminum plate and prime before painting and it will turn out great.

almost done!
Almost done, Just putting in screws with the heads painted black and taking out the stainless. I just havent fully installed because I just ordered AMS Underhood shifter bushing so I dont want to put my CAI in only to pull it out 2 days later when they arrive lol
..... Im debating in Carbon fiber vinyl wrapping the box as it seems to get to dirty to quick with the high gloss black engine enamel paint I used..... but heres a basic idea of how it looks.

well I bought one sheet for Around 25$... it is .025" very light, does bend and ding up easy, but if you measure it correctly this wont be an issue. I could have gotten away with just that sheet if I measured my cuts out better (first time doing it....live and learn), then I bought another 12x12" for about 10$ at lowes, 3 packs of stainless self tap screws ~3$/ea pack, Black spray paint can ~5$, and plexi glass, which I already had.
PS, I SUCK at spray painting lol. It looks ok but not as nice as Id like. I dont think the area this box is in catches crazy heat, so Im looking into wrapping the box with Di-noc carbon wrap. However for the time being im very pleased with the outcome. Also got in my bushing today, so I have a busy day tomorrow

I am ganna use the quick release idea and this will all be possible pretty easy and I'm a body man so I know how to spray paint
