Mods suggestion for GSR
I have the following on my GSR
Green Filter high flow panel filter
Perrin Turbo Inlet
Cobb EBCS
Cobb APv2
megan dp
depo HFC
RRE stealth sideways exhaust
Depo UICP
Depo UIC elbow
AGP FMIC
Car has a whole lot more power than stock. Been road tuning it in my spare time, started off with the cobb v403 OTS stage 3 map. I should be hitting the dyno in a few weeks when I have a day off. Shouldnt take me more than an hour or two to dial in the tune. I'll be happy with anything over 320whp.

Thanks for your response Kendogg, I've been trolling the forums for weeks, just reading bits and pieces. i just wanted to make sure the order in which i purchase these parts is cohesive with when i get a tune. I mostly want a more exciting DD, i dont want a full blown project. However; i cant drive anything stock...
so my plan overall is the UICP (now that i know the LICP isnt necessary) drop in filter, test pipe and cat back. I guess what confused me with the evo's is: the downpipe is a smaller piece than on Subies (still making this adjustment lol), and the test pipe is essentially a cat replacement, right?
so from the turbo its downpipe -> Cat (replaced by test pipe) -> mid pipe -> muffler, correct? if i have that correct, i'll be doing a Test Pipe unresonated, and a catback (looking for a dual exit). and call it a day for exhaust work.

You got the order correct. I bought a HFC testpipe. I don't believe a straight pipe adds to much more horsepower and I don't feel like having to worry if my city starts checking emissions during an inspection.
I guess I have some more diagrams to search for lol.
I just have to get familiar with the exhaust, where the O2 housing is, the EGT bung, cat, and resonator. I just want a catback so my car doesnt sound like a prius, but if getting a test pipe is a large gain (which it seems to be), then i'll be getting one as well, just want to make sure I purchase the correct parts. I wont be doing a DP until after my warranty expires (2017).
Just a side note, those street level emission check points are a scare tactic, you are not required to stop or participate in them. they simply ask, you can politely decline, and then immediately ask if you are being detained or not. obviously not running a cat means you wont pass smog. but you cant be forced to participate in a field emissions inspection.

Some cities though (I believe Dallas is one) do an emissions test when you have to get your inspection sticker. My city doesn't do this yet but it's been up for discussion plenty off times. I think it's a matter of time before they finally approve it.

Kendogg, we had a rolling emissions check point here a few months ago. they literally set up a mobile smog station and get poor suckers. my brother is a sergeant in another city and gave me the low down on how they work. hopefully they dont start rolling those out where you live.
Shekaar, thanks for the info! i'll be avoiding a test pipe for a while i think. I got a little trigger happy last night and ordered the K&N short ram and UICP combo, and the Perrin Catback...so i should be set on sound for a while.

I actually have never seen the check points you are talking about. The only check points they do in my city is for DUI's.

My GSR is still in the break-in period but eventually I plan to most likely go with a drop-in filter, UICP, Cobb AP, and pro tune. Down the road maybe a catback and sway bars. Seems from everything I've read, that setup will produce some nice gains for the price and still be DD-able.
why do people shy away so much from the intakes? are our factory air boxes sufficient for 300+ hp? i just recently ordered the K&N short ram and UICP combo. but also have a K&N drop in; trying to decide which i should run.
I'm new to the Evo community myself, I came from the Subie community; and for example, on the 08 STI you could do a catback and uppipe and a drop in air filter, before needing a tune. anything additional to those mods you'd need a tune. downpipe and a CAI or Short Ram and you'd need a tune.
