Dinging Sound Randomly
I was using navigation on Sunday, and I heard the airplane-y ding sound again. It was shortly before a curve in the road. Not a "turn" where navigation would have to tell you to turn onto a different road. Same road, just maybe a 45 degree curve in the road. I looked at the screen before the curve and saw a yellow arrow in the lower left corner noting the left hand 45 degree curve. I think that's what the sound is for - alerting you to a significant curve in the road. The conditions in which the ding would sound is dependent on what the MMCS deems worth sounding off on I suppose.
