List of things to do for new owner?

Okay, I just bought an 08' GSR with 90k miles on it. I'm trying to get a list together in my head of stuff that I need to do asap, so that I know they're done the right way, and that everything is fresh.

Oil Change w/ Mobil One + drain plug
Trans fluid change
Diff fluid change
Timing belt + water pump replacement with new OEM goods
Drive belt replacement
Bleed the brakes and fill with fresh brake fluid
New power steering fluid
Drain and replace coolant
Replace Spark Plugs

Outside of a visual inspection is there anything else that would fall under the maintenance category? Brake pads look good and the rotors are flat with no pulsing in the pedal.

Do you mean timing chain (big project) or serp belt (small project)?

It's a chain on the X? I thought it was a belt like the 4G63. Is it still 60k that it should be replaced?

Sounds like a good plan, and yea, timing chain is a chain and there is a newer one then what you probably have and it is a bit stronger. Also bring your car in for the CMC recall. I would get a compression test as well.

Replace your fuel pump relay with the newest one.
Also ziptie your fuel pressure regulator hose.

Assume the dealership is where I'd wanna get the relay from? Not a local/national auto parts store?

Reason I ask is because I'm going to the dealership on Saturday to load up on all the different fluids + filters I'm going to be replacing.

It's a chain. But I would recommend changing it anyway. The 2008's had chains that were known to stretch.

Why change the chain? It has an indicator if it stretches. Plenty of notice before timing or failure. Some chains do not stretch at all and are fine...

Oh - I wasn't aware of that. Still very new to Evo's lol. I just hate not knowing if it was done at 60k (90k on it now).

You could always pull the valve cover to check if the timing chain was replaced

You still haven't made the "jump" to thinking about chains, instead of belts. You don't replace the chain at 60k, as you must do with a belt. You replace the chain when the stretch indicator says to.

With that said, popping the cover to see if you have the original chain provides useful information.

I did, but I was looking at the maintenance chart for Evo's in the sticky. I guess with the post being from 2007 it only takes into account the belts that were on the 4g63's being 60k. I thought it was in general for all Evo's. I get it now that it isn't really a maintenance item for the X's because it's a chain, and not a belt like on the 9's and earlier.
