New CMC Specs?
New CMC Specs?
Does anyone have any technical information on the updated CMC?
I currently have the VIII/IX CMC in my car. I plan on putting new brake fluid in this summer before I hit the tracks. I was thinking that if I have them do my CMC recall, I could basically get a free fluid change (with me buying the fluid obviously).
But I know nothing about this updated CMC. Neither of the master mechanics at the dealer I work for knew enough about the technical specs of the thing to know if it would handle 400+ foot pounds.
I need to email our regional rep to see if we can get me in touch with one of the Mitsu engineers themselves. But in the mean time, I thought I would see if anyone here knew more about it.

From what I gather it's another plastic one that "was bonded better" according to the words of the recall.
I'd just stick with your IX CMC honestly. Plus it's adjustable on the catch point where as the plastic CMC is not adjustable.
When I got my X I just assumed the plastic one was like my IX, but plastic. However it was not adjustable so you cannot fine tune the clutch engagement. If tracking I'd want the IX CMC in there knowing I can minimally make it grab lower to limp home should the clutch disc wear out. Plus who wants a plastic CMC failing and ruining a fun track day you already paid for?
I think you can just show them proof of replacing the CMC and get a refund check in the mail. Don't trash your upcoming track day over this.
