Thanks Chad. More than likely I'm just going to keep the stock cat in tact, and just stick with the Buschur catback.

You don't need a cat back exhaust. It's a waste of money. The stock catback can handle 350WHP setups just fine.

Intake, EBCS and a tune will give the most bang for the buck.

There is definetly some power to be gained through a catback- depending on the construction- and if its an early car- you dont have to deal with the "drumming" sound from the internals-

we just recently put a 2010 back on a stock catback and intake, from a cold air setup and exhaust, the car lost 38whp-

You need some WTs. They make incredible gains. Best bang for the buck.

I swear every time I think I have read every forum post on here about performance mods and try to reply to someone with that info, I get schooled.
I thought the Cat was the restriction in stock exhausts. I've also heard of people making crazy amounts of power with just intake, 3 port and tune.

Just goes to show, the actual shops that do this stuff know more than forums.

I have on order everything I am gonna be doing for at least a year or so.

Buschur exhaust
Cobb hard pipe kit
HFC + DP

Can't wait to get it all installed so I can bring it to CBRD in a few weeks to get the tune done, and EBCS installed. Chad I will be in contact with you probably late next week to setup a Saturday appointment to come get the work done.

EDIT: Just as I posted this I got my email from Buschur that my exhaust just shipped!

No, it is not about getting schooled...it is about learning.

Just glad this community has good EVO gurus that can help all of us out...

As a general rule, stock turbo cars will always pick up power with an aftermarket CB and tune...stock CB can be very restrictive..

After reading beaucoup de stuff on this and other forums, I ended up with similar mods to those you have planned, at very little outlay. I had similar aims, not going wild, and it is a DD.

3-Port
Cat back, but 2.5", not the usual 3"
High flow cat
Drop in filter

I think that is it. Tuned by Cobb via their AP
319 BHP and 357 LbFt on their Mustang Dyno.

That is bang for the buck :-)

I'd recommend getting yours here. A lot of people have said these are "too expensive" but it's an easy install, they're not going to be duds like some reviews on buying cheaper ones off ebay/amazon. And they just flat out look amazing. I had base non sss package too and i put them on and i love it

im about to buy a base myself, but all my other cars have HIDS, would you just buy the parts from dealer and install or is there some other company that would help with getting HIDS.

retrofit! the bixenon (hi and low beam in one unit) HID's is about 315. then install yourself would be free if you are up for the challenge. I got quotes from a few shops and they gave me a number of around 300 for the retrofit of the hids. My initial plan was to go ahead and do the hids myself but I came across a posting for a whole headlight unit which was retrofitted from a sponsor with high and low beams and angel eyes all for 340$. So now I can sell my stock headlights to make some of the money back for go fast mods I will try to get pictures up soon

I think that has changed with most modern turbo cars. They normally come with decent catbacks from the factory. I know my GTi had absolutely nothing to be gained from a catback.

you talking about baking your light capsules n stuff, I wanted to avoid that. the SS package is not a deal breaker but its 33k then the lowest SS package is 36k.

your in socal, what shops are you talking about, because if that would be the only option for me unless I can get them dealer installed.

TBH, I dunno why HIDS are so important to me:they just are
anyone running the halogens on their evoX? are they really bad, or look bad?
