Upgrades to a stock GSR

Okay, so I've been doing a crap load of reading on this site about adding mods to an otherwise stock Evo. Just wanted to run by you guys my plans, and to see if there are better "bang for the buck" mods. This is basically a daily driver, so I am keeping the mods conservative. I've already installed a short shifter, shifter base aluminum bushings, and under the hood aluminum shifter bushings.

Here is what I'm looking to add this year...

Buschur SS Catback Exhaust Link
Cobb Hard pipe kit Link
3 port EBCS
Tuning by CBRD

Next year I will be adding Cusco coilovers, Exedy Stage 1 clutch, upgrade the CMS, and probably get new tires all the way around.

Looks good, most likely similar things I want to do to mine also. Probably will include HID's to my list though since I got base.

I may add a test pipe to it. I would just have to swap it in and out when it comes to inspection time.

If you have emissions testing you could just go with a high-flow cat instead of a straight test pipe.

Otherwise your plans look similar to mine. I would add a drop-in filter as well. (Cosworth is what I'm going with.)

Thanks man. I already have an AEM CIA, so got that checked off the list already

Just placed my order for my Buschur CBE. Still debating if I wanna go HFC, stock cat, or maybe even hollow out the stock cat to save some money to put towards another mod.

I'm not sure of how much difference there is between a test pipe and a high flow cat, but my car has the AMS high flow cat and the guy at the inspection station actually asked me if there was a cat on the car or not. I told him it was a high flow cat and it passed no problem...I assume this was just part of the visual inspection checklist. My car passed no problem on the sniffer too.

Yeah the HFC looks almost like a resonator, so I can see why a mechanic would question you about it lol. Luckily here in PA there is only a visual inspection, and emissions is done via OBDII port, so there is no sniffer test which is why I was thinking of just hollowing out my cat.

Wouldn't u have a CEL because ur o2 senser would be reading the wrong flow of air

If you are worried about visual you could think of a resonated test pipe

Now that I think of it, OBDII is probably done the same way here...The last car I had tested was my '95 Supra...OBDI, that's why they hooked up the sniffer to it.
