11" GSR EVO X Vortex Generator

So I've been looking at Vortex Generators for my X. I think it's a signature item for EVO's.

I only see these for SSS packages that needs two lumps on the roof. I have the SSS package however my roof is flat?

Can someone help me out here?

Not sure of the validity of this, but read it somewhere on this or another Evo forum...

...that the X doesn't really "need" a VG because the roof-line is lower than previous generations, therefore not seeing any benefit. In that case I wonder if it would actually have a negative effect on the air moving across the spoiler (on the GSR, for instance).

They do look cool, though.

It's not the roof; it's the angle of the rear window. Tape strings on the rear window and trunk of an X and an 8 or 9 and you'll see that the former has no need for these things.

Appreciate the clarification, man.

That being said, would it have a negative effect on turbulence over the spoiler of the GSR, for instance, or does it just look pretty and do nothing else?

I mean you would think it would come stock on these cars if it actually performed well right?

Terrible logic. For example, 8s and 9s do benefit from a VG on the roof, but they don't get them from the factory, either.

As to whether a VG will actually hurt an X, I'm not sure. I've not seen a good plot of the smoke or pressure on an X with a VG. I'm only seen what I needed to know that I don't need one.

Dang, I really want a VG. I will outright admit I plain old like the look of it and I knew about the benefits on the earlier version EVO. I did not yet know about the different angle and airflow of the Xs rear window, so that is cool - thank you for sharing.

If there is a chance it will negatively affect the vehicle I don't want it that badly .

Maybe someone with access to a wind tunnel, an EVO X and a VG will do some scientific testing for us...one can dream right?

The 8/9 MR's came with the vortex generator stock. Also, the Evo X fq-400 comes with the vortex generator as well.

Vortex Generator

I have one on my MR even though it doesn't need it.It looks awesome especially from the rear.I bought mine off of Amazon the one they had I couldn't tell if it would fit my car.I sent an e-mail asking if it would fit they said it fits any style I spent like $305 on it if you have a sunroof u need the flat one non sunroof has some sort of railing on it I got the one with the railing even though it fits you should get the proper one I think without the proper one it will create drag.
