Poll: FQ440 or 311RS MR

Pretty much the two most spec'ed out pseudo-factory backed production Evo's available, which would you rather have?

The FQ440 of which there are 40 of or the 311RS MR, for which I think Gates only built 1?

311RS has roughly 422 hp at the crank, whereas the FQ440 has 440 hp at the crank.

FQ440 has an HKS turbo upgrade, Janspeed intake, full exhaust system, IC piping, tubular manifold, Alcon big brake kit, big injectors, and "Bespoke engine ECU re-map developing 440bhp at 6,800rpm and 412 lb.ft at 3,100rpm". It has Eibach springs, and the car is lowered 35mm in the front and 30mm in the rear. It has BBS 18" wheels of unknown style.

The 311RS has stock turbo, stock brembos. It has AMS intake, FMIC with piping, full exhaust, JRZ RS1 coilovers, Girodisc 2 piece rotors, pads and lines, CE28N wheels, NT05 tires (yuk), front lip, custom exterior styling, custom interior styling with lots of suede.

I feel like you can do 95% of the 311RS in your own garage for thousands less than their asking price was.

The FQ is much more punched up, and more complete. The 311RS gets the nod on awesome suspension and wheels, but the FQ will destroy it in power output. A factory warranted car with a turbo upgrade, solid resale value, and lightning fast... Count me in son!

They're only 18 peak hp apart and the 311RS has 428 lb-ft of torque. I wouldn't say destroy in power output, maybe walk it at the end.

311RS is whp / wtq figures so these are rough conversions to bhp and lb-ft.

Dyno disparity will be substantially more than 18hp, I'm certain of that. Look at infinity examples in the X dyno section for proof. Even stock frame turbo upgrades are worth at least 50whp.

If you think a bolt-on (catted) and tuned pump gas stock turbo X makes a real 422HP at the crank. Well... It doesn't.

£50,000
Pounds to dollars don't correlate in these vastly different economies. If you only look at straight exchange rates, identical cars are eye-wateringly more expensive in the UK than in the US.

That's not to say the FQ-440 isn't still a pricey bugger. It certainly is.

For purposes of comparison, assume somewhere between 51k-61k for a FQ440 and $50k for a 311RS.

I'm sorry, this is crazy lol.

Apart from the power, the 311RS comes with custom painted CE28Ns ($4000+), JRZ coilovers and Cusco suspension parts ($5000+) which will DESTROY the FQ440, Girodisc Brakes ($2000+), Roll bar ($500+), Custom interior with suede on the dash ($5000+), AND your usual bolt ons and a kick-*** exterior package to top it off.

Honestly, throw the two on the track or a road course and the 311RS will absolutely positively destoy the FQ440. Those JRZs dialed in are the key here.

FQ440 has Alcon's which, in my uneducated opinion, should wipe the floor with the Griodiscs. Wheels are also one-off instead of the mass produced CE28N's.

JRZ's are the key here though, you're right.

The JRZs and custom alignment are definitely the bright spot of the 311RS. The CE28Ns are cosmetic at best, and drive the price up unnecessarily. NT05 are yesterdays rubber and handily outclassed by what's winning in SCCA right now.

311rs.com doesn't mention the Cusco suspension bits for it's $50k asking price: http://www.311rs.com/

If the FQ440 just has Eibach lowering springs, that would be unfortunate. But if so, would you leave either just as it is? The FQ has way more money in hop up parts than the 311RS does.

lol, NT05's were never a winning rubber to the best of my knowledge. They'd always get outclassed by a Bridgestone, Yokohama, Dunlop, Hankook, Toyo or BFG.
