Evo X Xfer Case whine, keep driving?
Evo X Xfer Case whine, keep driving?
Hi all,
I have a transfer case whine, ring and pinion wiped. My evo has 110K miles so no warranty and I am going to eventually buy a new xfer case ~$3k or stage 1 jacks rebuilt ~$2.5K. My question is, should I just keep driving my evo until it breaks since I will be getting a new xfer case? Or will I cause damage to other components if I do?
Thanks.

It's fairly loud, but I can still drown it out with the radio or windows down. But at 40+mph it whines.
It actually started after I changed the fluids myself, probably should have left it to the professionals... I followed the Mitsu Service manual but then I read elsewhere that you fill the xfer case until it drips out then drive a couple blocks and fill it up again. I didn't to the second fill up until I noticed the whine which was after ~ 40 miles of driving.
