How do you keep your evo clean + rust/corrosion free?

Hey guys im interested in knowing your methods for keeping your car rust free. Does anyone use a electronic rust protection? Rust check? Washes? Waxes? Oil spray? No winters? What do you do?

If you want to drive on snow, do it on fresh poweder. If you choose to drive after the trucks have been out dropping salt you should take the time to wash it at least once a week under the car.

Thats about it. You might as well add rain the that too. Besides that you have to do maintenence. Basically make sure your car parts don't stay damp. Even if the air is damp in your garage that can cause rust.

It really depends where you live... here in Alberta it's not that big of a problem. The air isn't salty and not a lot of salt is used during the winter.. most of the time it's too cold for salt to work.
If you're on the east coast then the air will be fairly salty and they'll also throw lots more on the road.
Only thing you can really do is clear bra it (the 3m around the front and such) and maybe have a reputable shop under coat it. Wash it once a week or so.
I never really had a problem here in Alberta with rust. Had a 2006 ralliart with 120000 km before I sold it and it was just fine. That car was winter driven and parked outside all its life.
Mazdas though.. holy, they rust pretty easy.

I don't drive the evo if there is snow or salt on the ground. I also try to avoid rain and I have mud flaps for paint protection around the wheel area. I also have the use of a garage and I have a second car as a beater.

so much contribution! so much information!

So the under body sprays and such don't do much for rust? I have read a few threads of people recommending the rust proof sprays for the under carriage.

I would hate to run around in a crappy beater when my Evo is just sitting there collecting dust.

If it makes u feel better, get it undercoated and clear bra'd.

Also, don't worry about it. It's not gonna rust into a little pile in 10 yrs.

Just 3 weeks on salt and my aluminum under tray began to pitt from the salt. Salt has to be washed off or it destroys aluminum, especially after 10 years

Haha, but washing it tends to help, even just pressure washing the bottom knocks off most of the road salt/debris/everything else that rusts.

91 GSX Florida driven for 10 years. Looked sweet underneath. One December trip to N. Pa for a week and bolts + exhaust rusted. Living up here now+2012 GSX=garage queen first snow flake until April showers wash the roads down. To heck with the flowers!
