Hey what's up everyone. So a while back someone was selling some awesome looking exhaust manifold heat shields for what I can remember was an awesome price. So I went ahead and bought myself one and everything was good. Well after I did my x turbo swap I had that heat shield install as well. Well I've just started to hear a rattle in the engine bay and started too look around to see if any bolt have came undone. Well when I looked that the heat shield I noticed that it was starting to have some oxidation. Any ways I took it out to clean it and noticed that it was starting to warp and I just wanted to know if anyone who bought this knows what kind of metal it was because the welds on one side broke and is causing that rattle sound when I hit a bump.

It looks like it is doing it's job, though the spot welds certainly weren't enough to handle the heat. It looks like mild steel which should be easy to weld.

LOL idk why I didn't think about that! I have some rivets in my tool box too lol

 

that's those crappy Epi-Tek ones. Guy sold his "last one" for, oh, about a year, to a bunch of people, until they all started falling apart and the pyramid kinda collapsed.

Rivets might rattle over time too tho, so, i dunno, take it to a welder and pay them ten bucks
