Okay thanks. I realize this after reading a brand new post. I did want some further explanation though. I had understood that intake, or intercooler, test pipe or boost control would require a tune. I have also read an long AMS or ETS bolt on shop project car than had all kinds of stuff added prior to tune showing the HP gains with each step. Not sure if it was in this forum or another. But, this leaves me confused.

Thanks for help,
Kevin

I do not believe that is entirely accurate. After getting intake and exhaust my car started running like crap. I also was plagued with over boosting. Chances are your engine will be fine because the stock tune is so rich, however my advice would be to get tuned soon after you increase air flow with an intake and exhaust. This is another reason why most persons recommend you mod certain parts at the same time.

Generally, cat backs do not require a tune. Neither do intakes that use the stock MAF housing, such as the ETS intake. In contrast, the AMS intake uses its own MAF housing, and requires a tune when installed. Test pipes should have a tune done. Boost controller as well. Many people do run bigger intercoolers without a tune.
The best thing to do is log AFR and such, and if your car isn't running properly, get a tune.

A tune will not only help your car run better it will also unlock the full potential of your mods.

Yes, there are things you can bolt on and drive around with just fine but in the end even those mods would perform better with a tune.

Make a Plan for your car and implement it in stages.
-If monetarily possible buy all your mods, install and tune in 1 go.
-Or buy Mods in groups, hold on till you have them all, install all at one time and do 1 tune.
-You can also buy them in smaller groups, install and tune for each group. Tuner may cut you a deal on the re-tunes if you discuss your project plans with him.
