Finally someone brought this up. I have a 2014 GSR with navi. and every time I'm on the way to work, on this one curve it makes the dong noise. It's so funny, same spot all the time.

The dong reminds me of being on an airplane and the captain turns on the seatbelt light. LOL!!

Slow down into that curve ahead of time and it won't ding at you. Interesting tech to be honest that it knows the speed of a turn and what you are carrying into it. Guess it would sound like a small chime orchestra at the track?

I don't think it's related to "2x the speed limit". I get the warning on a fly-over ramp posted 35, when I'm doing well under 70 -- but fast enough to exercise the torque vectoring.
(Actually, the ramp isn't really "posted" 35 -- it's not posted at all, but the Nav says it's "35".)

So it's also not when you're "too fast", as the car will handle that curve very well, if you're not being stupid (like lifting in the turn).

It's just one of the multiple audio notices the car tosses at you. I get a ping when I pull the left paddle when I'm already in 1st (if I lose count of gears); I get a bing when the temps hit 37 to remind me that the roads may be icy (Fed mandated, I think), and a dong when approaching a sharp turn at speed.

Oddly enough, there's no audio tone when I pull the wheels loose in a weight-transfer turn: just the flashing ASC symbol on the HUD.

The 2014 got a reworked NAV unit. Is this a new 2014 "feature"?

But given the EVO's rallye heritage, I'm surprised they only use a "dong", instead of a vox synth annunciating: "five left, tightens".
(Perhaps it's a pun reflecting one (minority) view of co-drivers: a dong in the cabin.. )

It is definitely speed related but I do agree it has nothing to do with the speed limit.

I take the same route every day, and if I slow down plenty, I can keep it from the dong, but if I speed up on the ramps I get it every time.

It dongs before I'm into a turn I believe, like ahead of the curve I'm not even turning into yet. At least that is the perception I have. It's a pre-warning, not a 'well you're about to die, here is a helpful chime to let you know you just ****ed up and are about to kiss a tree sound'.

That's right, it's a warning.

I think it's just the OEM NAV.
