nope we don't use them

it might be a throttle controller or knock sensor. Can you tell what it's hooked too?

You also have some sort of widemouth downpipe.

Somebody spent good money on quality parts. If you can PM me the VIN number I can find out where the car came from and then you can probably figure out who tuned it, etc.

Well took a day to teardown the car and check everything my self and damn who had this car before "loved" this girl like nothing else. Why he got rid of it I don't know but here it is, what I found so far...

ETS Turbo Piping
ETS Intake
ETS exhaust manifold
AMS TMP cams
AMS BIG mouth dp
Possible rebuilt stock turbo internals.
Greddy Exhaust 3inch
Tactrix 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid
Zeintronix ZT-2 and LCD (was hidden inside the dash..wtf? Right? Dealers!)
* Wideband AFR
* SST Temp
* Boost
* EGT
Zeintronix Safeguard (small box with led from the pics)
SST tranny cooler
Rotors 2x piece GIROs (not certain still)

EcuFlash tuned but don't know by who. Need to get the OpenPort 2.0 and see if whoever tuned the car left the signature. Sometimes on the empty spots we used to place our own digi signature.

I don't know if I am one extremely lucky guy or else... So far the car looks and runs great except the rought idle and the stalling when flooring the car on higher gears.

Looks like you got a decent deal. I'm surprised the original owner hasn't chimed in yet. I'm sure he will in due time.

Nice list. Let us know what you find about the stalling issue.

Found the Optima Red Top battery defective. The car might not have enough juice, to keep the idle smooth. Not 100% certain that is the culprit, I still believe the stalling when doing WOT on gears 4, 5, 6 from low RPMs is Tune related. Trying to get the OpenPort so I can download the rom and see what has been done.

I did notice that the check engine light turns on when I do a WOT and hit the rev limit. That CEL function is from AccessPort or from TephraMOD V1. Just sent payment to get my OpenPort 2.0! Hell yeah! I'll be back into tuning!!! I am so excited! I wonder how the rom raw data looks like! I wonder if anyone has found a good disassembler... so excited! :d rool:

somebody spent some money on it with good parts, that's a good sign.

If it's an MR, then the tune was probably done by bakaunchi, beeble, or Golden. They'd probably recognize the car. Or I can see what state it was from with a VIN search.

The car had only one owner and I found the information but I prefer not to reach him out. The car has been in FL since it was purchased. After I check the ECU and feel I need someone with more experience I might hit Jester here in Orlando. Back in the day when I used to tune, he was starting up and did really good. He is still doing tuning and feel confident of his skills and experience.

I have been doing a lot of reading and see that there is a large amount of threads about idle issues. Just in case I will check the piping, vacuum lines, sensors and filter. Regarding the heavy hesitation when doing WOT on the higher gears, I feel confident the issue is the tune. When I get the Openport 2, will do a lot of logging and see what I find. also will flash the updated code for the SST trans and hope it clears some of the odd behavior from the trans too.

On a good note, the dealership gave me a new redtop batt so that was nice of them. So far I must say, they have been the best stealership I have ever been to. BTW that's AutoNation Ford in Sanford FL.

Anyone knows where i can download definition database and stock roms for evo x? I have searched for days and threads point to Golden's website that reports as down due to lack of funds.... anyone knows of another source?? I can't find anything... Evoxforums has some files, but figured after so many years there would be some compiled definitions and stock roms. I am shocked that Golden was the only person that built a db for them and shared them...

I finally got my OpenPort 2.0 cable. Pulled the rom and found it is running on TephraMOD V1. It has some heavy amount of changes all over the place. Unfortunately from what I can tell I am going to spend some heavy time reading and catching up to be able to understand why so much was changed even on the SST tables which are alien to me. I'll go and post up on the Tuning section and see if anyone would mind looking at the rom with experience to share their thoughts about the changes made.

Forgot to say THANK YOU to everyone that posted on this thread!!! Any and all help has been greatly appreciated!

Congrats on the 2008 MR

Hi there, LogicGate. I was poked by a fellow member that a 2008 MR identical to the one I recently sold has surfaced on the forums. After a quick read, it is indeed true.

You got a deal, for sure. After stalking the car on AutoTrader, it looks like AutoNation Ford ultimately sold the car for less than what they bought it from me for. I guess they had problems selling it. It's tough to sell a modded car, especially for a dealer, since they have no clue what's been done to the car.

I bought the car new in 2009 for $31k (it was a KILLER deal), and I put a total of 32k miles on it. I put about 100 miles on the car since early 2013, so the car's been sitting in the garage for over a year. I started and drove the car every couple weeks, mostly to keep everything lubed up.. hence the weak dry cell battery. I've been getting pretty busy, and just didn't have time any more.. so I had to part with her.

Here's the full mod list:
  • DOM 2.0 stock housing turbo
  • ETS tubular manifold
  • Widemouth O2 housing and down pipe
  • 3" single exit exhaust
  • GSC S2 Cams (hence your not-so-smooth idle)
  • GSC Beehive springs
  • GSC Titanium retainers
  • ARP head studs
  • Cosworth head gasket
  • FIC 1100 injectors
  • 255lph walbro pump
  • ETS FMIC, upper and lower piping
  • ETS Intake
  • Swift Sport Mach springs; 1" front, .6" rear
  • Zeitronix wideband, w/ boost, SST temp, etc
  • Zeitronix alarm/buzzer/led for over-boost, excessive knock, over-rev, hot egt, etc
  • Golden tuned, extremely satisfied with his work, btw
  • Dyno'd 431whp/350wtq @25psi, on 93 pump, no knock at all

I would suggest finding a tuner, and having them baseline the car as-is. It's safe to dyno it.. again, it was very well tuned, and conservative.

After reading some of your posts, let me suggest a few things:

First, like any Evo X (even a completely stock Evo X), I would not suggest going WOT in 4th, 5th, or 6th at low rpms... that's just asking to throw a rod. If you must, try to keep the rpms over 5k. The tune is conservative at 350wtq to help relieve stress on the stock bottom-end and stock SST internals, but WOT in those gears in low rpms is no bueno.

Second, with the increased torque and stock SST internals, I'd suggest not launching the car.

Third, also related to the increased torque, the transmission NEEDS to be in S-SPORT mode if you're going to rip through the gears in WOT. It's safe to roll into WOT in NORMAL or SPORT mode, but I wouldn't shift at WOT in NORMAL or SPORT. But, just to be safe, try sticking with S-SPORT when flooring it. If you're not in S-SPORT and go WOT and rip through the gears, you're going to roast the clutches.

The car did die on the highway a couple times while cruising around 70mph. Both times, the car fired up after a couple hours. Although I can't say 100%, I believe a few new relays (MFI, Fuel pump, etc) *seemed* to have fixed the issue. Whatever it was, it must have been heat related given it started up just fine after a few hours. Other than that, the car has been a gem.

You're going to have fun with this car.. don't hesitate to reply to this post or PM me with any questions.

-Ernie
