4wd system service required???

Hey guys, im kind of new to all of this, I did some research before posting but couldn't find a scenario that was similar to mine.

So, i got a flat about 3 weeks ago (front passenger side), got a used tire (had about 85% thread)
Its in better condition that the rest of my tires.

As soon as i put it on I could feel the car pulling towards the left when hitting the gas a little harder than usual. A couple days later the 4wd sys service required light pops up.

Have any of you guys gone through this?
Would it go away after an alignment?

trying to avoid the dealership after being ripped off so many times

thanks in advance!

You can't do that man it's an all wheel drive car???

When you lose one tire you need to replace all four. You can't mix and match tires. If you do you can cause serious problems. (Break your transfer case etc.) I don't know what you have damaged so far, but I would first get a matched set of new tires, and then see if the error goes away. If not, dealership time and lesson learned.

Good luck...

The car is detecting that one wheel is spinning slower than the rest and that's a problem, so it's giving you a warning.

You can't put a tire with more tread on the car than the rest of the tires. All tires need to be the same, and you need to rotate them every 5000 km (or every oil change) or you risk damage to your four-wheel drive system.

I've read that it will mess up your differentials if you do not use the same tread tires.

you need to replace all four tires, and then have the dealership reset your ACD

Any good suggestions on tires?
I'm in NY so I will see snow this winter.
But I don't put a lot of mileage on the car, within the past three years I probably put about 12k miles

Thanks

I would say. Get a good pair of summer tires and move to L.A.
That is what I did. You will put more miles on your car due to great weather. Check out on you tube. Mulholland Snake. World famous.

You can also look for a tire shop that shaves them. It may seem like a waste to shave a new tire down to the old tires wear. But It can save you from having to get a new set of 4.

Never heard of that.

My light actually came on once on the way to the parts store. Started the car 15mins later, light was off. Hasn't come back since. *Knock on wood*
