Recall for you Evo x owners.
so i brought my 2010 mr in for the belt recall last friday , i do all the service on my car myself , im a audi tech , anyway , no big deal they just replace the belt and check the pulleys , said the pulleys and tensioner were in spec , so sat am im getting ready to wash my car , i lay out my wash bucket ,hose ,ect in the drive way and drop my wash mit on the ground under the front bumper , i bend over to pick it up and notice the under pan was hanging a little low , i grab the jack to check it out , and i notice a clip missing from the under pan , no biggie i get a new clip from my stash and look up . i see my oil pan crushed in from the jack stand the tech used to lift the engine up after removing the pass side engine mount to replace the belt ! ,,, i had a fit called the dealer right away and now im in a fight to get this replaced ... lame , great first mitsu dealer impression .
Well came back from my appointment and they guy told me they didn't have parts for my evo? What a load of BS! And he didn't even tell me that when I made the appointment 2 weeks ago! So now I have to wait 2 months? I'm going to call another place to see if they can do it. Question is if something happened to my car cause the recall can't be done because limited supply will Mitsubishi fix it?
Now it's sent via regular postal mail, so there's a chance it could get lost. There's also a bit of delay before they get updated about the vehicle being sold. So if you bought it recently, you might not get the letter at all (the previous owner would get it), or it might be very delayed. In this situation, if you got the used car from an actual Mitsubishi dealer they might contact you. If you got it from a private party, they would get the letter and should contact you. I'm not aware of any laws that say they have to, but they should anyway. I would.
In any case, I'd call in the VIN and see if the recall is due on it. No real point in waiting for the letter, the letters are a legal obligation as well as a nice reminder for non-enthusiasts.
