New to Evo Scene!
Hey everyone, I just picked up a 2012 Evo a couple days ago and sense then I have been making the search function of this forum work itself to death! I have a question unanswered that I can not find a definitive answer. The car was not stock (I was aware before the purchase), as it has full ETS bolt ons as follows UICP, Intake, LICP, Intercooler, DP, Test pipe (dealer cut and welded a cat onto so im insearch of one), and ETS V2 Exhaust.
Well here is my worry. As I read the forums they say 30LBs of boost is A LOT for the stock turbo. Well this car is making 30lbs of boost from 3300 ish rpm all the way to red line. The car came equipped with boost, oil pressure, and A/F Ratio gauges. The A/F is currently not working, I have not dug into why most but likely a fouled sensor.
Finally to the question. How do I tell if the turbo is stock and not aftermarket? Any key identifying marks? Should I be worried? It didn't come with a hand held or any tuner cable so I'm in the process of picking one up to monitor the knock sensor and such.
Other then that car is a blast so far. Looking forward to some answers.

i dont think a factory turbo can hold that kind of boost all the way up to redline. Did the previous owner give you any dyno numbers or ne thing. I guess another way to do it would be to just ask the guy if its a stock turbo.

Is the boost gauge accurate? I knew a lot of people back when I had an SRT-4 that thought they were boosting a lot more then they actually were because of an inaccurate gauge.
Ohh and welcome I'm new here too I just got my 03 EVO 8 GSR this week, but I had my SRT-4 for 8 years.

Well I got the car tuned. Its got a ets recirc dp, dc motorsports test pipe, ets v2 catback, grimspeed 3port ebc, ets upper icp, ets 4inch intercooler, ets lower icp, and an ets intake. Car was retuned at 25 psi by drunk man tuning in Pensacola FL. He would of increased the boost more however I ran out of fuel with the fuel pump being at 98%. I picked up a cobb access port for the tune to switch maps sense im military and a forge rs recirc bov. The car has been great so far after getting it tuned, however I had some dumb dumb jump a curb and damage my front right fender and front passenger door. Car is currently in the body shop.
