I never understood this "obstruction in the rear view mirror" ...
if you have both side factory size rear view mirror, then you do not even need the in car one.
best examples the trucks or the smaller vans and a list going on and on.

how that ticket would be justified if a lot bigger and more dangerous vehicles doesn't even need one....

Yep, got pulled over in my fiance's STi in Fairfax because the wing obstructed rear view. He also asked if I was running Nitrous or had any unbody lights...then he said he pulled me over because "drug dealers like to drive these cars".

Not to harp on you or anything. But the first thing you should do is sftu and let nothing come out of your mouth other than 'yes, sir' and 'thank you, sir.' :P

good advice. meekly accept whatever they say, don't make yourself memorable or give them anything they can use as ammo. write down everything that happened right away.

so some updates.. i went to get the light fixed and then inspected at a local police station. The officer that pulled me over and gave me crap about the wing, put the ticket violation down as another lamp out. so the officer that inspected it just signed off on both being fixed and let me go on my way.

now its just down to the speeding ticket that i pleaded not guilty to and hoping for the best now. hopefully the judge can see the unrealistic ability of being outside the vehicle and talking to someone else pulled over, to pacing me, all within .4 miles.

ps. i will not be filing a complaint and wasting my time. cops are killing people and its getting tossed away.. my letter saying this dude was a clown is not even gonna make to a desk.

You should send the letter anyway even if there is a chance that it gets passed over. Cops are in the spotlight more now.

Indeed, send the complaint anyway, and send it recorded, someone will have to sign for it, then you have a record that they received it. If it ever ends up in court, that will work in your favor too.

Definitely send the complaint anyway. Depending on which car I am driving that day, if I get pulled over I ALWAYS record everything that is going on. I have been yelled and screamed at by a police officer for NO reason... recorded it went to Court and left with no problem. In fact the Judge embarassed him in front of the whole court room for being arrogant and unprofessional.

Depending on the states you might have to let him know you are recording him just to protect yourself.

Only applies if you have windows. Just like window tint.
