if you are going to fight the speeding, you should have photos, and video of where the cop was, where you ended up. try for the calibration records first. after that you have to go to the standards for pacing, a minimum required distance perhaps, the impossibility of their gauging your speed with their eyeball.

Fight it, and based on what you wrote you'll have no problem winning this case. you just need to bring in evidence and make your case look good. Bring up the "wing" ticket as well and prove to him that it is not illegal, and that it is a OEM equipment and not something you added. make him trip up a little and the judge will see that. Those cops out in LI are on the next level.

Thumbs down

You need to file a complaint. That does (with most departments) get taken seriously. Especially when you CC everyone in the chain of command up to and including the chief of police. It doesn't guarantee that the chief will read it, but it does guarantee that everyone under him/her will read it to see what is being said about their subordinate.

Also, who would you rather promote as a supervisor, an officer who makes people he/she talks to dislike the department and gets constant complaints, or someone who gets no complaints and positive feedback?

Just be very logical in the complaint so you don't sound like you're just pissed about getting a ticket.

PS - I did a ride along with a female cop in 8th grade. Some person she interacted with filled a complaint saying she was rude. Long story short, the complaint will be on her record for her entire career and she had an hour meeting with her supervisor about it.

honestly there is no where to even file a complaint. At least no where i can find.. and as an update, i mailed in my not guilty plea on 12/4 and still havent gotten a response yet by the courts as to when i'll be scheduled. For the people saying to bring evidence where he was, theres no way i could get actual evidence(like video), so its just gonna be my word against his, and hopefully he doesnt lie.

actually i found a complaint form on nassau police website. but its like a submit general info and we'll get back to you in 3 days type thing.

Dude.. Don't be so shy. Walk right through the front door of the police department he works for and ask to speak to a supervisor.

I agree I have plenty of court experiences, they don't want to waste time and money. they also would like to get thing resolved before the court hearing. if you talk to the supervisor prove to him the wing is stock he'll probably talk to the court clerk and get it dropped. then mention you replaced the bulb and would like to "take care of" this too. then drop the fact he wrote you a speeding ticket too. If they don't want to drop the speeding ticket too. Just agree that will take it up with the judge on court day and ask for documentations. Keep your original citations and ask for compliance letters/ receipts showing that you took care of the other violations.

Write down everyone's name you had to speak to time and dates as well. Above all act professional,be polite(doesnt mean kiss ***) and lose the attitude. Remember they are at work, doing a 9-5 like we all do.
