Are there any other simple mods that can enhance the reliability of the Evo?

I recommend replacing the fuel relay to the most current one. Other than that, it's a pretty reliable car. Mitsubishi put a lot of thought into the design of the engine. I just know the factory tune is very lean/rich... one of the two... someone can correct me. Running an off the shelf tune from Cobb will correct that.
engine seems rock solid so far after 5 years (2008 MR). here's a list of stuff that broke, not including recalls:
AYC pump ($1200)
AC (2x, covered under warranty)
paid about $2.5K into maintenance (oil change, fluids, brakes) . SST is expensive.

Do u dd your mr?I only spent $30 for oil change on my mr and bunch of goodys.Yeah sst are expensive rite now.later on price should be lower.
I can tell you, i've had my x for going on 5 years. and had an 03 before my 08. the x is very reliable in my opinion. i have about 97k on her. still original clutch, third set of tires. i've had an issue with my battery...long story haha. and my ayc pump just went out on me, so im getting that fixed under warranty. but other then that its been a great car. i've changed the oil every 3,000 with full synthetic and changed the spark plugs about every 30k and never had an issue
Seems like a solid vehicle. Nothing that stands out as a "holy **** this will fail inevitably" as there is with most cars. I dont hear about mitsubishi having turbo issues. The new trans in the X is apparantly very solid. The ACD will prob fail but now with warranty up to 100k milea whats their to really worry about? Engine seems like a very good platform so long as everything is done correct
