sweet jesus i did some more research on oil and man there is like a never ending debate lol.. Although the Rotella stuff has pretty much nothing but good reviews all of them seem to be for the 4G platform.. i couldnt find much about our 4b11... i would be interested in trying the rotella if it was actually safe.. but hard to find much info about our X
When your car comes with a Mobil 1 sticker (or used to, you can still see the little rectangle on the engine cover if you look close), that is good enough for me to stick with.

I been using Mobil 1 from walmart full synthetic 5w-30 for like $20 but the jug says "Dexos1" right next to the 5w-30... anyone heard of this? I been running that for about 2.5k miles with no problems..

I agree, read the label do what it says, But i use mobil 1 5w-20. No matter what you decide on, changing it on a regular basis is key. 3000k miles is what i do for all my cars.

I did my first oil change at 500miles with Mobil 1 EP, second at 1000miles with mobil 1 EP, and i will be doing my third at 3k miles with Rotella, then every 3k miles after that with Rotella.

I would highly doubt it. Dexos1 was just a new oil standard that GM created for newer engines. I doubt that Mobil 1 drastically changed when they adopted the dexos 1 spec. I use Rotella T6 myself now (but ran M1 for the first almost 100k miles in my evo). I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

From years of running various turbo cars heres what i think. Pick a synthetic oil and stick with it. Theyre all about the same but regular changes are a must. Changing brands back and forth can lead to trouble as the different additives can interact badly over time.
Conventional oil is good for engine break in as it will help with the initial swelling of gaskets and lets everything seat properly but it will also coke in a turbo car. This coking will build up and clog oil lines. Switching to synthetic at the first change will flush out any small amount of coking present.
People will argue that brand x is better than brand y and what not. The bottom line is that you should stick with your personal preference and change it regularly.
