Value of Evos in the future

Now that it's been known Mitsubishi will discontinue making the Lancer Evolution for the foreseeable future, what do you all think the value of a good condition Evo will be 5-10 years in the future? Of course, this would all be speculation.

Do you think the Evo will hold its value like a NSX? Or will it fall into obscurity like the MR2?

Probably won't do as well as a NSX, but I can dream..

It's going to drop, some of the 2008 models are going for under 15k, I highly doubt evo's will hold there value up in the 30-40k range. If anything the range will be around 15-25k in 10 years.

FWIW Someone just offered me $20K for my 2003 car.
I don't see the CT9A dropping off any time soon.

They will hold their value well, but they will not appreciate like some Supra's and Rx-7's have.

If Mitsubishi really stops making cars and these are the last of the Evo's, they will still have a pretty solid cult following.

I would think they would hold there value pretty well i mean the old ones out there already hold pretty well. Now will they be like a Supra...doubt it but if you manage to hold onto your evo for 20 years till its as old as the Supra is now it would still prolly bring a pretty penny!

The CT9A will continue to hold value well. The X not so much.

I'm not sure but in about 20 years cars will have really really good gas mileage as mandated by the feds.As you all know this car has pretty crappy gas mileage especially if you get on it,that I think in and of itself with the econocar breeding won't make this car worth anymore than they are today.Rx7 FD Supras 300z all were never economy car based like an Evo is.

Fuel economy will not play a large role in this vehicle's value, it's desirability in the collector market will just as all other cars.

The Evo has a terrific following and that isn't going anywhere in the next 20 years, unless of course they are forced off the roads.

I'm sure you assume that was a clever retort, but let's lay a little knowledge on you.

So you think because there are 8 model years of the X, it will not hold it's value.

Do Corvettes hold their value? What about the WRX/Sti? Civic Si? Volkswagen GTI/GLI/R32? There are several cars that fit the bill that people love, that was just naming a few.

The X/Evo in general has a straight up cult following and will for years to come, trying to argue otherwise is flat out laughable. Maybe it is a kid cult following, but the bottom is not dropping out of these any time soon. On top of that, if Mitsu never makes another Evo, you can bet your life these will be sought after hard, especially the last models. No, they are not going to appreciate in value like a Supra, or turbo Rx-7, but the demand is not going anywhere but up.

I'm thinking my 11' MR is going to stay stagnant in the mid to high 20's. I put less than 4K a year on it, and only has 8900 at the moment.

They definitely made a lot more Evo's than Supras and NSX's, so not sure if thats a suitable comparison (though compared to new, the NSX did lose a lot). Who knows though, dealers seem like they are holding on to them.

The 8-9 will probably remain desirable due to the raw driving dynamics and its also lighter than the X.
