Airbag System Service Required?

Message showed

up this morning upon starting the car and has been on ever since.. I have troubleshot all connections under both seats, all looks fine and well.. The passenger airbag indication light doesn't come one regaurgless of someone sitting in or out of the passenger seat.. A bit stumped here and would like to avoid having to take a day off work to get to the closest mitsu dealership to have them "tear the car apart" and tell me "man we do t know, and I'm sorry for all the new dings to your interior."

Ca r is a purchased new 2014 Evo X gsr, not ever 3k miles on the clock.. Any ideas?

Faulty module? Sorry to tell you this but your only bet is to take it to the dealership. It's under warranty and they shouldn't/wouldn't charge you anything for it. It's a brand new car. You could also take it to your nearest auto parts store and have them pull the code

I would disconnect the battery for 10 minutes then reconnect it and see if it comes back.

Tried the battery, didn't fix anything.. Does anyone happen to have the wiring detail for all the airbag systems?

Did you remove the faceplate on the radio at all? I installed a amp into the factory headunit harness and tripped the airbag light too. Take it to the dealership and they'll clear the codes for FREE. Ive had to do this 3 times already. Its crappy Japanese engineering that makes it to where the DIY guy cant reset the lifgt at home.

Thanks for the info however I have not done any stereo or dash work.. Last Tuesday I did however get my windshield replaced? Would that have anything to do with it?

Just take it to Mitsu and have them reset it. I dont see why you would want to go through all the trouble of going through a wireing diagram for something that is under warranty. And if you mess with it and set off an airbag or something then you will be **** out of luck on useing your warranty.

Agreed this is getting silly.

The second you bring your car to the dealership they aren't going to release farm animals on it to dance on the hood. Just be nice to your service advisor, ensure they don't wash it while it is there, and have them fix it.

I had the same issue. Had it for like two months and couldn't figure it out. Took it to the dealership. They had it for a day. They were able to figure it out so I'll save you the money. My AMS intake shield kept hitting a wire in front (towards where the airbox was) because the car rattles when it moves. Those wires are exposed so it kept throwing that code. They wrapped it in wire tape and that fixed it. There's literally like less than half of centimeter of space between the edge of the shield and that wire. Hope this helps.

I'm confused as to what is silly about me trying to diagnose and troubleshoot an issue on my car? Taking it to the closest Mitsu dealership (45 mins away) is easier said then done so forgive me if my schedule is seems to inconvenience YOU

hmmm I'll check that out tonight, thanks for the heads up. still on the stock intake but it could be getting pinched somewhere or somehow. Did your passenger airbag indication light in the middle of the dash stay off as well? That's the thing that made me immediately think it was an issue with something on the passenger seat weight bladder/rails.

He/she was not trying to hurt your feelings, the advice he/she is giving you is for your own benefit.

You bought a 35k car with a nice factory warranty, and the airbag service light is on for a reason. Make some time to go get it taken care of properly, you will be glad you did.
