Been behind the wheel of the RS I take it? Or the Golf?

I would be shocked if those two don't blow the Evo away.

In terms of track time yes. If I wanted fast, I'd get another GTR but as a daily driver it's all about the driving "feel" and every day convenience.

Drove the Focus ST, Golf R and the sister car S3. Had a CLA45 and F80 M3. All of those car have no steering feel. Some are quick, some are better than others but all feels disconnected from the road. If I tracked them I'd probably spin out since I don't' know when to ease up on the wheel. Not going to track my daily but just saying... My fiesta ST has some feel with is EPS so it's probably all in the tuning?

During the Porsche world road show on their road course both the 991 targa 4s and the 981 Cayman GTS were excellent to the point that I can't tell it's electric. I haven't driven an Evo X since 2009 but cars are getting better now. I do recall the steering and feel is excellent. Only flaw I can tell is that the front nose feel heavy.

There is no way to know yet anything about the RS, the ST is front wheel drive.

The Golf R I am hoping he was referring to, is the 400.

Every E46 M3 I've had has just as much steering "feel" as my 2014 EVO, including the one in my garage right now, but of course the handling is night and day different.

Convenience and daily driving feel? The Evo has very little convenience except for the fact that it offers 4 doors. No trunk, no adjustable steering wheel and seat height, no 6th gear for highway cruising.

I've been behind both of the ST's, and if I was going to choose a car to daily drive, it would be the Fiesta for all the reasons you mentioned above.

Now if I wanted a car for flat out performance of the group, it would be the Evo, but I am betting that RS is going to change my mind.

When the Golf 400 is out i'd be interested in that or the RS3.

Yes, thus I have a Fiesta ST now and the lease will be up next year. Great little car for it's price. Having a non adjustable steering wheel wasn't an issue for me on the Evo 8/9 but maybe concern on that final edition with the sofas. I will need to sit in one and see if that is doable.

The E46 does have better steering than the F80 and it was loved my many because of it.

You just reminded me why i love my MR more than the regular Evo 5-speed. So if the evo x hits that annoying drone that would be annoying. With the 6-speed i can upshift or keep in 6th to advoid that.

Rewind about 2-3 years ago, the program manager will develop models with his/her cost analyst, logistics specialists, and all regional/global tech management to determine which parts/spares/repairs will be needed based on trends and common for what they'll determine to be obsolescence by attrition, in other words they may determine that it's only cost effective to keep x amount of part a for y amount of years and so on. In other words they really are literally counting on Evos to all die and just turn to dust at some point. What ever part is leftover is what you get in your, "Final Edition". In my line of work it's typically a 80/20 split between what's used for parts and what goes into a final model run.

U.S. spec Final Edition
Like the Japanese spec Lancer Evolution Final Edition, the U.S. model will get sodium-filled exhaust valves, which Mitsubishi says will improve output at medium and high speed range. Other upgrades will be made to the suspension with Bilstein shocks, Eibach springs and Brembo two-piece ventilated front brakes discs. The color coordinated 18-inch BBS wheels will be wrapped in high-performance Yokohama Advan tires. The Final Edition models are based on the GSR trim and will come with a five-speed manual gearbox.
Inside, the Final Edition black, silver and red emblem with the production number on it will be affixed right in front of the gear shifter. It will also get Recaro bucket seats with a special red-stitching on the steering wheel, shift knob, parking brake handle and console lid that will all be covered in leather.
Outside, Final Edition will come with a special dark chrome front grille with a gloss black bumper bar and hood vent surrounds. The roof panel will be offered in two colors, white or black, which can be matched with one of five body colors; red, white, gray, black and blue. Also on the outside, a "Final Edition" badge will be mounted on the trunk lid, and the same logo will be shown on the multifunction display upon startup.
In Japan, they are only selling 1000 Final Editions and production will begin next month. The U.S. will get 1600 limited edition 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition models later this year. Pricing has not been announced. Stay tuned.

Australia is getting 150 out of the 1000 RHD final edition cars. Sad times really. Hard to comprehend how Mitsubishi is walking away from this car when all the Euro makers are discovering 4WD and "torque vectoring" systems, wow how long has the EVO had that (since EVO4). Even after 8 years the AWD system in the EVOX makes the latest Haldex system used by VW and Audi look primitive.

At least in Australia because we are RHD we are still getting used car imports from Japan of EVO5, EVO6, EVO7, EVO8

So how is the USDM 2015 Final Edition getting Recaro buckets? All the sources I've read said they would be equipped with them standard.

Before I got my evo I drove both of the st versions. Focus torque steer was insane. Hated it. I liked the fiesta but it was laughable small and felt more like a toy then a car. I could press all three pedals with one foot lol. Back seats didn't even fold flat so technically it's usable space is worse than the evos pathetic trunk. Definitely dead on impact in any accident in that little jelly bean of a car. Fun though. Gti had nasty wheel hop but felt very fast. Golf R didn't seem any faster than the Gti and just didn't impress me for 40k. Sti still has the same crappy engine, wrx felt like a Camry.
Evo was perfect. I would have loved to drive an RS but I'm still wondering if it even really will ever make it to the U.S.
So all in all, yes the evo is the perfect daily for me. Size is sufficient, trunk is at least there, 4 doors, reliable, awd, and I can fit 2 kids in the back and still smoke most cars. Nothing else fits the bill.
What's not to like about it being a daily?

So you read what I wrote, quoted what I wrote, then asked me what's not to like about the Evo being a daily?

Again the points were these: The ST is $15k cheaper. The RS and Golf R (400) are not even out yet, and the Evo is way behind the times in a lot of areas.

You do realize the Evo seats do not fold down period right? Not that this is a huge concern, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Evo and Fiesta had the same amount of trunk space. That Ford is a whole lot of daily driving performance for $21k.

Again, if I didn't always have several other cars, there is no way I would live with the Evo as my daily. I get a lot of people do, but there is a lot not to like when it comes to it's civility.

Mine will be a September 15th build. With the pricing rumored to be close to GSR I decided it is worth getting. I don't want to regret not buying like I did for the Supra in 98, canceling my 1M order and missing out on the ITR's back in 02 with discounts

Thanks but we can see most 2015 GSR and MRs pics on dealer websites. The Final edition with red stich accents seats I am curious about. Hope announces the official pricing soon since the Final Edition trims will start September.
