New Evo X owner - Need exhaust/Wheel advice

Hi guys, I bought my Evo X last year in October but don't really get to drive it much, more of a weekend car. I am finally getting around to doing a few upgrades and was wondering what the forum favorite cat back exhaust is?

I want a deeper rumbly dual exhaust that is still pretty loud.

Was taking a look at this one:
http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/c...tem-14858.html

Also, are most people buying larger more aggresive looking wheels or are you guys mostly powder coating the stock wheels and adding larger tires?

I also have the aero kit but took off the front piece as I didn't like the way it looked (storing in my house build up wrapped in plastic), so that will explain the extra side and rear kit pieces.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Maybe consider 18x9.5 wheels with an offset ranging from +25 to +10, which can improve both the look and performance. Some reputable wheel brands:

http://enkei.com/
http://www.workwheelsusa.com/
http://www.wedswheelsna.com/
http://www.ssr-wheels.com/
http://www.yokohama.com.au/ADVAN-Wheels.aspx
https://www.rayswheels.co.jp/index.php?lang=en

For exhausts, I have no advice because all high-end exhausts for the Evo X, like the Akrapovic, bear a price tag of $3,000 or more, which is triple the price of the one you are looking for. I can, however, remind you that you can Dynamat your trunk floor after installing a loud exhaust, so the cabin remain quiet and you can still drive on the highway (without an active noise cancelling earphone that cost $300). I have that for my trunk floor and it reduced the drone for about 5 decibels.

I really appreciate the advice! I have heard of adding spacers on stock wheels, is that a bad idea?

Adding wheel spacers is an equivalent of reducing spring rates. If you have to get those, make sure to buy high quality ones, like the Sparco spacers, and high quality bolts if needed. A poor quality thick spacer may break and if it does while you are driving, you will need a new car.

Many good wheek brands to choose from as stated. Enkei and Weddsport are great wheels with performance in mind and willbnot break the bank for the most part. I advise 100% against spacers. I had a terrible experience with them in my last evo VIII that could have killed me. And YES, they were quality spacers(ichiba) and where torqued to spec and re torqued. Buy wheels that fit or leave stock ones as is.

I like the Ultimate Racing exhaust I have and it comes with a test pipe too. It's a 3 inch exhaust with 4 inch tips.

I'm not a fan of test pipes. CO and NOx are very unhealthy and can make you really sick if you idle the car a bit longer in a closed space like a garage. Back in my college years, many car guys were running on test pipes and it made me sick (literally). Once I spent a moment longer at the tail of my friend's E92 M3 with a test pipe after putting backpacks in the trunk, and I had a headache for 40 minutes.

If your sitting in a closed garage with a car running you might need to see a therapist =p

I had HFC for less than 2 weeks and just went for straight test pipe.
There is limit with Cat on to make the sound deep and loud.

and regarding the exhaust, I personally like M7 Japan one.

Tips look so good and sound is deep, low and loud enough

If you go spacers you can have good custom ones made. I wanted wheel and hub centric to run with my setup and couldn't find retailer who had both in only 3mm thickness (had to clear brakes on front w/ enkei rs05rr rims). I'll see if I can dig up where I bought them from, it was awhile ago.
