I bought a 2011 evo x (from a private party) and immediately on the drive home i noticed the vents did not always blow from the vent selected on the dial. The main Face vents never work correctly, the feet vents usually work as selected and the defrost vents work sometimes. Along with this the rear defroster doesn't work maybe this is a connected issue. Has anybody experienced this issue before or know a solution.

two gauges installed and powered through the cigarette lighter AEM wideband O2 and Defi Boost Gauge
Tuned by AMS then later Boostin Performance
OEM standard radio

Also i searched up and down for this problem maybe i wasn't using good keywords but if there are other threads with info on this subject A url would be great.

 

Well i would look into how those guages were wired up..maybe some kind of hack job..

 

This concern could be the control head or the a/c mode door actuator .. actuators tend to fail more than the control head.

 

Hey, were you ever able to solve this? I'm having the issue on an Evo 5 but the situation might be similar. Previous owner installed 4 gauges and an aftermarket radio. I'll start there unless there are any recommendations?

 

Yeah as obake214 said, sounds like hvac mode door issue. They usually fail and default to defrost/feet.
