2011 OutSport OEM Radio Replacement

Anyone done this? My wife has a 2011 Outlander Sport and I am trying to upgrade her stock radio to the touchscreen OEM.

When I plug in the wires, the radio works, but I can't start the car. The dash computer shows everything is broken LOL. Unplug the harness and it works.

I thought this radio was Navi, so I am a bit disappointed and may send it back. The price was amazing nonetheless. They even sent the GPS module and navigation module... weird. The seller said in the description they have instructions, but I haven't received them yet.

Probably yet another ETACS thing. (Seriously, I do not know for certain, but swapping out factory stuff always seems to generate an issue)

Should I just send it back?

As far as ETACS is concerned indeed there is an option to select between the 4, 6 or the premium sound system. This topic has been mentioned before in another thread. I would not assume though that the sound system would prevent normal start of the car.
I only know about the older MMCS and that allows some programming of the ETACS.
It is not clear from the OP's post that he wanted to install the MMCS with the unfolding screen upon pushing the eject button or the latest 2014+ unit. It is possible that the newer unit is not a simple plug and play in the 2011 model. I would suggest to take it to the dealership and let them enable the premium sound system in the ETACS (if they know what it means and how to do it).
Is the unit new or came out of a vehicle? Amazing prices are always suspicious.

unless it was dirt cheap, why not aftermarket with Android Auto or Carplay if you're going to go through all the grief?

Got the last one for $150. I thought it was a good deal. Still had plastic on screen.

The radio itself works fine. My power windows work, AC works, etc.

Car won't start and like I said, the dash computer shows everything wrong with the car. ABS, airbags, hood open, doors open, etc. As soon as I unplug the harness, starts right up.

If I went with an aftermarket, it would work fine but my dash computer wouldn't work?

HAve you matched model numbers etc.? Possibly some ground loop or short somehow? I think the dealer suggestion might be the way to go.

No, I went off the description. I'm not wanting to move wires in the harness, so I will just send it back. It's not really worth the potential screw up. The radio sounds better since it can do HD, but that's kinda the only reason to keep it. I thought it would have had more features than it does. I guess lesson learned.

Too bad. Looks like a nice add. Weird that a radio would kill the car though!

Just for comparison, the MMCS (the one pictured on the top that should fit to your vehicle) is a $2000 upgrade at the dealer (with NAVI though). I have not seen even used one go for less than $600. My guess is that the unit might be defective but again I would try to risk a $100 programming fee at the dealership. If it does not work send it back and/or ask for another unit.
I do not see anybody in your neighborhood who is a registered ETACS user (programmer), so the dealer is the cheapest option.

FWIW, they might do the programming for free if they were the selling dealer. My last ETACS update was free. Ask the dealer to install it is what I would do if it was that good of a deal.

If it's the last one, that's a regular touchscreen unit without nav. It's what I have in mine. Although, if the description stated nav & they sent the modules, I would contact the seller and make sure they didn't accidentally send you the wrong unit.

To my knowledge, nav isn't available on a unit that looks like that. Still very strange the car doesn't start though, I had no issues whatsoever when installing my unit.
