Evo X vs M3. How do they compare?
Yes and no. Where I live the M3 doesn't work in the winter and the front end is too low for anything. Traction control light flashes in the dry and when it rains only comfort throttle works since it has way too much torque for a RWD car. My R8 is more comfortable and way better as a drivers car and only fails in terms of space. The M3 need to be AWD or they really need to tune the car for what the chassis/traction can handle. Porsche is great in producing a balance car. You don't put 16" rotors with 185 size tires. Basically, BMW put more torque than what the car can handle as RWD.
I feel the Evo is the better M3 but I also feel the M2 maybe a better car.

They are different cars. The new M3's are faster, but when I go into the canyons the Evo 8, 9, or X will kick its azz all day long. Plus a few g's into the Evo and it can look civilized inside and blow the dickens off a stock M3.
Not its not. You need a turbo upgrade at the minimum and M3's handle very well, also.
Its funny because every other day I see a new M3/M4, sometimes several. It's definitely a bit surprising, considering theyre $70k+ cars. I'm sure the TT I6 is no joke with a tune though, compared to the older V8's.
I had both (E92 M3 and Evo x) and trading in the M3 for the X. Here's the thread...still have no regrets

Had an e92 M3, Evo X, and now have an f80 M3 on order
The e92 M3 is a lot of fun. A great all-around car. Easy to DD everyday. Not the fastest car out there, but very forgiving and predictable. Loved the linear powerband, but it seemed a bit weak/wasted around town.
The Evo as a DD wasn't too bad,but also wasn't great. Definitely more performance oriented. Missed some of the little comforts of having a luxury car. Also wished there was a 6th gear. But in the hills is where the car shined.
Test drove an M4 before I ordered my M3. Damn this thing was fast. Only had about 20 minutes of seat time but I was sold immediately.

Stock Evo X vs. stock 2015 M3 on a road course track, same good driver, M3 will set a much faster lap.
But that's not why I and many others bought an Evo, we bought it because it's still by far the best bang for the buck canvas to build a high performance street/track car. I did that, and below is a copy/paste from EvoX forums about my experience this weekend with my built Evo X SE at Auto Club Speedway. To achieve this level of performance with an F80 M3 will also void your warranty and cost you at least $30K more for car+mods, but it was a tough and lengthy project and not sure I'd do it again :-)...

This week finally solved last issues with my 1 year project, details in sig.
Went to Auto Club Speedway Roval course in LA with Speed Ventures and saw car's full potential, it's a beast in both power and handling.
Ran down the front straight at least 5 times with AMG SLS Black (630 BHP, 3400 lbs) and modded 2014 Viper (~660 BHP, 3500 lbs) and neither could pull on me, in their own words, smiling in disbelief "I could not gain on you at all in the straight at WOT".
Top speed at end of straight consistently 160 before decel into turn 1-2, no heatsoak issue for entire sessions. My car has full interior and no aero, and just the aerodynamic disadvantage of the boxcar Evo vs. streamlined SLS or Viper should have killed me.
I was the one more surprised, thought I had perhaps 550-600 BHP max but it must be well over 600 BHP. Decent drivers, SLS driver was good, but in the turns my Evo pulled away and lead widened each lap. I cannot say enough about the power and handling of my Evo X SE and 3576R, only need a quick paddle downshift to hit instant boost in 2nd or 3rd out of tight turns and my car launches at peak TQ with zero lag gaining on or passing everything ahead--included 991 GT3, 458, 997 Turbo, GTR, F80 M3. Also a 2015 Z06 in my group of 35 high intermediate drivers, and my best time (1:53) was full 5 seconds faster than anyone for that session. I can ignore power now and will never want another turbo before I change cars, can focus now on improving my driving skills which need a lot (only 9 track days in my life), handling and tires.

Lmao...so now M3's...some of the most perfectly balanced cars cannot hang with an evo? I wont even bother.
Come out to the track and see for yourself, lots of examples of stock F80s at Buttonwillow this month kicking stock Evo azz all up and down #13 CW, fashizzle. Latigo canyon is a fun drive, I prefer Las Flores and Piuma, but no place to race cars unless 2 idiots are planning to plow head on in to a family of 6 in a mini van. Are you guys going 2 wide :-)
Now if we're talking modded Evo's, that't a different story, but we're not. I think Christine the Sierra Sierra time attack Evo still lives at Buttonwillow, and nothing (not even a P1) can beat Christine on a good day.
Nope, equal good driver in new stock F80 M3 vs. stock Evo X, Evo will not be kicking any "azz"

Thank you..I SWEAR when people talk about evos they are AUTOMATICALLY talking about 500 whp fully built with fine tuned suspension evos lol. The majority of us only have bolt on evos, and bolt on evos ARE NOT keeping up with cars people want them to be keeping up with, sorry. Stop living vicariously through famous time attack evos people lol.
I totally agree with you, but remember we are on a evo forum so many opinions are very bias. I on the other hand no what m3's are about having owned 3 before, I love the new m3/m4 I hear there fast as hell and besides any one who is a avid car person knows that m3's handle very well. All this being said I love my evo and will be holding onto it a little longer.
