gsr or mr??? chime in guys

Ok here's the deal trading in my ix for a newer family friendlier evo,
One is a gsr, 54k miles 2011 decent shape good price good trade in price
Car fax is iffy the previous owner did all his own maintenance, so he prolly was modded up a bit.
Or I go with
A 2010 Mr touring, 36k miles, good shape ssl package with ʼnavigation leather interior the works, real nice. Car fax is clean only thing that has me is at 35.5k miles the car was brought in to the dealer and the trans was checked then the car was sold about 200 miles later?? Maybe he got some bad news??

My concern is the sst transmission with the mr other wise I love the car, my concern with the 2011 is the milage on it and prolly needed a clutch soon and the fact the previous owner did all the maintenance outside of the dealership.

What do you guys think?? Lmk they are both about the same price, the trade in with where the Mr is at is about 1k better thought.

from the reviews ive seen the SST is only good to 350whp about. if you want more than the GSR may be the way to go. i went with GSR for that reason and a little more fun for me. you do have to check them out and see how they may have been treated. test drive of course

I want to stay stock with this evo, it will be used as the family car with flare for now.
I test drove both, they are both on point the gsr has a little more whine to it then the mr, the mr shifts hard like it's a manual and that was in regular mode.

the only thing is if you ever try to upgrade the MR in the future, you'll have to worry about tuning the sst...GSR is always a better option I think.

If you truly are going to keep this stock and a Family DD then i might go with the MR. I have an MR myself and i love it... I know most people are not a fan of the SST b/c of the issues it has had over the years and the fact that if it goes out it will run you more than 9K to replace IF its not covered or you did something to your car to VOID any warranty you may have had. I know a few people that have MRs w/SST with 90K on them and they are good to go. I also know people that have had them replaced at 13K on them.

If i were you i would do a bit more research on the cost of owning an MR vs a GSR.... Also about using the SST and by that i mean driving the car in S-Sport Manual all the time to save your clutches.

PM if you want to talk more about the SST

This is cause for concern. The SST shifts should be as smooth as butter, especially in normal mode.

If your going to go MR just make sure to get that tranny checked out by someone who knows them well. A buddy of mine bought a used one last year and then within 3months he already needed a new tranny. You'd have to imagine all Evo's get beaten around from time to time, but if I buying a used X, I'm staying away from an MR. If I was buying new, that's a different story.

I'll have to test drive the mr again, play around with it. Thanks for some of the input guys.

I'll check to see how the mr shifts it was kicking kinda hard,

Ditto on MR being dead smooth when driving it. ESPECIALLY in normal or sport mode. Should feel like butter. Anything else walk away.

I vote for an MR as well if you can find a solid one.

If it's something you're not 100% sure about then don't get it. If you're not careful, it'll end up costing thousands of dollars. Trust me, I learned that the hard way

MR for a stock family car... like others have said already, make sure you diagnose for any possible issues.

number one way to cause issues on the SST is beating on it in normal mode... when you drive the MR next time play around with in it all modes; Normal Sport and S-Sport. When in S-Sport have it in manual mode. Also, i second everyone here that if for any reason she seems off, RUN.....
