2014 Evo X MR Highway MPG

Hello all,

Had a change to drive down the highway near me and figured I would see how much mpg I can get out of my 2014 Evo X MR as much as I can.
I was able to manage around 25-26mpg for a 70 mile long trip.
Here were the conditions:

- Sunny, but it was humid. Temperature was around 85F degrees.
- No A/C was on, however windows were all down.
- There were some uphills and downhills, but not many.
- Tire pressure was around 35psi, and I am on stock tires.
- Driving mode: Tarmac, S-Sport all the time in manual mode.
- Speed: Was averaging around 60mph -70mph.
- Mods done to the car: K&N Drop in Filter & ETS V2 Standard Exhaust on a stock tune. No other mods done to the car.
- Oil used: Eneos 5w-30 (Synthetic), and got the oil change done about 1000 miles ago.
- Gas used: 93 Ultimate from BP.
- The gas tank was about half full the entire time I was averaging the highway MPG and when filled up, I see the number 300. I guess the number could've been higher if I got the gas right off of the highway since I filled her up after exiting the highway and did some city driving before the fill up.
- I was the only passenger in the car.

When I do city driving, the mpg is not that great (I usually get like 13-14mpg on average and I do open her up) so wanted to see this time the most MPG I can get out of the Evo X MR on highway.
Well, can't complain about the highway MPG I got, but had to drive like granny. (Yeah it was too boring)
Wonder if I can get higher MPG when the temperature reaches around 65F degrees.
We will see, but wonder what MPG other Evo X MR owners get.

As long as you keep it between 65-70, these cars are perfectly capable of getting 23-25 mpg, highway, stock.

My GSR with just a Cosworth air filter averages 24-25 highway all the time.

We don't you're right and I'll admit majority of the time the way I drive I get between 12 and 17, but its nice to know that we can get good Mpg's if we want.

As for the OP. I used to get between 27+ in 6th cruising at 55-60 for my 40m drive to school with it going as high as 29. Unfortunately ever since I got my wing installed 67" apr gtc300 it dropped down to 25mpg. Once again that's actually trying for Mpgs staying in 6th and staying 55-60mph. Anything more and it goes to **** for me.

I seem to recall driving in super sport at highway speeds is not the best for fuel efficiency. Can't remember why though

I remember kozmic saying something about the clutch engages every time you hit the gas pedal in super-sport. I wish I could find the post

Thats sort of right. When in S-Sport, the clutch stays engaged when off throttle, and the non-engaged gear set readys for engagement every time you lift off. And you lose cruise control.

Normal mode with cruise control set is best for highway cruising, as far as MPGs are concerned....but i doubt there are many that bought the X to hypermile it LOL

My cousin is averaging about 24 in her GSR. Hers is mostly stock, the only mod being an exhaust.
