Possible new owner?

Hello everyone, I'm looking to move out of my 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0t. I have it tuned to stage 1.5. Winters in Toledo are not the best for RWD sports cars... Anyways, I was looking at getting a new Jeep but the one I want is around 35k bottom price, that's with the 5% friends and family discount. They don't negotiate at all either on Wranglers. I saw Evo's (2015 GSR) as low as 32 on autotrader brand new. Talk me into and also talk me out of buying a new Evo. It's basically either the Jeep or Evo

So I drove a 2004 TJ Wrangler Rubicon for about 3 years and yes, it was fun to take the doors off and put the roof down, but I'll be honest, it beat the hell out of me. Suspension bounces all over the place. I have not driven one of the new JKs, but a Jeep is a Jeep I'd think.

Now granted, the Evo isnt a luxury cruise, but it is a hell of a lot more fun to drive than the Jeep. I also had some reliability issues with the Jeep.

get snow tires for the genesis.

i had a 2010 JK for 3 years. As a boring commuter its fine. But unless you really plan to lift it and put on some big tires, it's boring as all hell and slow as ****.

if you really want/need something 4wd, go for the evo before they're gone.

Too be honest the ride quality doesn't really bother me much and luxuries like leather etc aren't necessary at all. The new Grand Cherokee's ride sooo much better than Wrangler's though.

Are Evo's reliable? I did have a 2001 Eclipse as my first car and the fuel pump etc went bad at 130k and then I got rid of it

Also resale value, Wrangler's are in a league of their own with their resale value. How good are Evo's? From what I see it's pretty good.

The *****'s come stock with 33' all terrain tires with black Rubicon wheels and Rubicon shocks etc. A big part of why I'm looking at that package. Only thing I'd do it light off roading. Maybe some mudding and causing havoc in the snow

My girlfriend and their family and I go camping a few times a year and it would be fun to bring along or just to go with my girlfriend somewhere ourselves so we don't need a camper.

I'm kind of afraid that I'll get bored of the Jeep as it's not a sports car and I was thinking exactly what's bolded

Double check the new evo for 32 deal. That probably includes a few incentives that you don't qualify for...unless you are in the military with a leased Mitsubishi.

Not seeing anything up front about it, did check their website and saw it said starting at 34,595.

Once you see a lifted jeep running 35's that are 12" wide, you'll want to do the same to yours. Problem is, you then need to re-gear as the stock 3.73's/4.10's just aren't enough.

My experience is with the old 3.8 motor though, i haven't driven one with the new more powerful v6. (both sound horrible though)

If you feel you definitely have the use case for it, do it. But just remember it won't be fast and it won't turn. It will just roll over things....slowly....

Yeah I probably will eventually. Problem is I drive 50 miles round trip to work a day so gas would kill me there.

The *****'s Wheeler edition comes stock with 3.73 gear ratio, 33' all terrain and the Rubicon suspension. I wouldn't do a thing to it other than put some spacers on. Maybe when I need new tires I'd upgrade to a 2.5' lift with some 35's, by then I should also be closer to work. 35's with the 2.5' lift is the limit you can run with 3.73 on the new JKU's so I'd be safe.

That's also what scares me... not being fast. But it has very good resale value and I can pretty much get out of it without paying anything, maybe come out on top. Plus I'm from Toledo where their built.

How's the resale value on the Evo's?

This may be a shock to you but the evo and the jeep both get horrible gas mileage. I have a jeep too. I love it, totally different experience. I have had 4 recalls in 3 years on it though...the ****** is cool. My uncle has an original ******. Thing is so badass but goes like 23 mph lol.

You can get slightly better gas mileage with a tune as long as you stay out of boost, but if you don't then it will be very poor. I guess at the end of the day all that matters is the smiles per gallon you get out of whatever you drive
