Bought a used evo x was giving me problems with a bunch of misfires switched out valves and long story short engine blew up replaced it with a 2013 mr 4b11 my car was a 2011 gsr. We got everything out back together and the car wouldn't start made sure all the wiring was good and seemed to be just the starter. Bought a new one put that one on and now it and sounded it it was doing what the other one was a clicking noise. Pull it out left it connected and all it does is go back and fourth with out spinning the starter. They looked at the fuses pulled out a relay for the starter is what we thought and put it back in and now it seems like the starter isn't getting any power at all and we replaces that relay and now I can even push start the car. Sorry I looked searched on the forums and couldn't find what I was looking for. Maybe I didn't look hard enough so sorry if this has been answered I just couldn't seem to find it

 

Eeek that sounds like an electrical gremlin man good luck with that one.

 

Does the battery have 12VDC? A low battery won't have enough juice to spin - only extend the start gear... Hence the clicking.
