Evo x for 25k?

I apologize if I sound like an idiot here, but this is my first post. Im a freshman in college and I have just a little over 25k saved up to buy a car, Ive been looking at used Evo x's around 35,000 miles and less (very hard to find with low mileage though) 2015 and 2016 wrx's and brz's. Gas and Maintenance aren't huge factors here, however insurance is. especially with the 3 tickets i got back in the summer. I would prefer an Evo over anything but I don't know if it will be affordable. Are used evo x's reliable enough? and what do you think about the other cars I listed? let me know what you guys think

Insurance for my Evo was cheaper than my other cars. My insurance company almost saw it as "just a Mitsubishi". You can call and get a quote from your insurance company. I haven't been on this forum long but the overall consensus seems to be that the Evo is reliable. Big complaint seems to be the clutch. There is always a ton of warnings about buying a used Evo as the nature of the car is to be modded and driven hard. Buyer beware and get a pre-purchase inspection. BRZ is slow. WRX seem to be a dime a dozen. Good luck.

Wrx drives like a Camry. Brz slow... My insurance went way up with my evo. More than my 5.0 and 911 so definitely check that out first.

Your insurance is most likely gonna shoot up since youre so young. Also with those tickets that's gonna add to it as well. Also if youre gonna get an evo, youre gonna have to finance it since you only have 25k (which is an impressive amount for a college freshman to have saved up) and financed cars MUST carry full comprehensive coverage.

BUT with that said, don't get a WRX or brz...youre gonna regret it hard lol especially whenever you see an evo. you also cant keep up with evos on the street with those things. I would say stay clear from a ralliart as well, because youre just gonna end up trading it in for an evo (100% guarantee youll do that)

Used evos are definitely a gamble. If you were to get an evo I would say get a new one or at least a 2014 one with the recaros. Put the 25k down payment down, and slowly pay off the car. Youll be much much happier in the long run and youll be even happier that you made this decision over the other 3 cars.

DONT SETTLE!!! Good luck

Edit: Now that I think about it.... If I was a freshman in college again and I had 25k, I would buy a used car for 10k and invest the rest 15k into the stock market. Damn would I have made some stacks by now.
But you only live once right so why drive boring cars?!

Get something fun and reliable and don't blow the bank.

Evo's are reliable and don't require much maintenance in my opinion.
I think as most have said is the insurance is the expensive part.
Make sure you get a quote first.

Good luck!
