Downpipe Questions

Im in the market to purchase a DP, but all this different brands and options are killing me in making my decision. Question to you guys is, witch DP do u guys recommend and what DP's are u guys running. Also another thing that comes to mind is for instance if I choose to go for example with an ATP DP would a ETS,COBB or any other brand test pipe fit it or does it all have to be same brand names to fit.

Its a waste of time to replace just the downpipe. You will get zero gains from it, its already been proven to not make an additional power. You'll want to replace the 02 housing as well. Just decide if you want a recirculated downpipe or a 02 dump. Look into products from ETS, MAP, and AMS.

What I like the most is the noticeable turbo whistle ...

So this looks like its a downpipe and a testpipe in one! Why is this so cheap compare to the other ones? I was actually looking at the same brand one by ATP but was considering the one with external wastgate dump. What are the differences between external dump, and the recirculating one. I mean I get the difference but is one just for staight WOT situations, or do they both work the same just preference. Thx again guys

I just put a downpipe on my Evo X and I can't imagine trying to install that ATP downpipe/testpipe combo on jack stands. If you have a lift it might be a little easier but getting the downpipe in and out is tricky.

All of our downpipes and test pipes are currently on sale. I always recommend the recirc downpipe unless your after every little bit of power you want and don't mind the noise. Then the dump down pipe is for you.

As mentioned above, the main difference from the external dump is the noise at WOT.., also, what turbo do you have and how much HP are you trying to accomplish..? and what use is your car for.?
IMO, external dump for street use is an overkill, too much noise.
The main reason I bought this pipe is for the flex section (and no need for an extra test pipe). I had seen a lot of exhaust crack and broken due to vibrations from the engine.
As for installation, it was installed in a local shop.

I am running the stock turbo on the X, but I am currently working on all my full bolt on parts. Im trying to get the most out of my stock turbo before I replace it. I actually like your dp a lot it keep from buying that them test pipe, but then once again I love the way external dump sounds.

Different people - different taste..!!
I had the external dump on my EVO 8 and hate it...!! It was astronomically loud, but then again, I had the RNR GT35R turbo kit on that car, which I loved

If you are planning to change the turbo, make sure you get the right exhaust now, so you don't spend extra money later. Any good vendor can walk you thru in this issue.

I have the ETS recuriculating (spelling) down pipe. I only went that route because my local race track doesn't allow exhaust to be vented onto the track...so no open dp. But it sounds great paired with an exhaust not to loud and the fitment was spot on. I will say getting it out of the car is a bit of a bear.

I have the ETS open dump and yea it is very loud and sometimes gets on my nerves. Sometimes I like it loud but others I don't so I would really go with what your preference is but like some of the guys have said it is loud especially when you pair it with a loud exhaust
