HKS Downpipe vs. RMR Downpipe

I'm trying to decide on one of the two for my first modification. The RMR is 3" and $325.00, while the HKS which is 2.65" and 400. Any experiences with either would be appreciated. This will probably be my only mod for now and I won't be changing the boost/fuel map.

HKS down pipe

I just got my HKS downpipe from boost solutions the other day and am installing it tomorrow. I can tell you that the workmanship is excellent - the flanges are nicely machined and all the welds are perfect. I'm sure it will work nicely, and you don't have to change or modify the suspension braces. Nice piece

Is the HKS dp going to be the only mod on your car? If so I'd be very interested to see what kind of gains it yields on the butt dyno.

I have the RMR downpipe and I love it. A lot of the big power guys are using the RMR pipe...

I got a HKS downpipe from Z1 performance and it's for the evo 8. It's great just like PUCKADOG said.

Well considering that's part of RMR's turbo-back exhaust and their exhaust sounds great (rode in Chris' car yesterday), I'd have to vote RMR.

Id be willing to bet that from 2500RPM up the 3in will yeild better gains.

My 2 cents.

i didn't vote for either one. but i would suggest the Ultimate Racing 3" it is also $325 but requires no alterations to the bracing. their dp combined with their highflow cat and RMR catback yielded a 23hp gain. base on Mustang awd dyno was 235.2hp after this utrbo back 258.2hp. sorry guys no scanner.

I forget exactly what magazine it was I think it was Turbo performance, anyway they have that power pages section were they put one mod on at a time and dyno the car, they put on a RS*R down pipe and lost like 20 hp, they gained it all back when they put a freer(is that a word?) flowing RS*R exhaust on. I don't know the specifics of this test but, if these #'s are true I hope your second mod is an exhaust.

All the Japanese tuners tend to go for the 2.65 inch downpipe instead of the 3 inch as you would probably lost hp at the lower rpm range. I had my HKS downpipe on and I am very happy with it.

You won't go wrong with HKS pal!!!

Huh? They lost power? Are you sure? I dont see how this could happen, maybe a little torque loss... ? More info would be helpful.

Do you have the JIC with the extended tip so it doesn't burn or make your bumper black?
