You could always buy a set of OEM Recaros from someone who is sellling theirs. I don't have my second Status seat yet but when I do mine will be on the market and I'm sure FE owners will be gobbling them up. Afterall... who wants a final edition Evo with crappy Lancer seats?

Many thanks for the lead!

To buy the 2014 Recaro seats ( I mentioned cloth to him, so I'm assuming this is the cloth price ), he told me that it would be $6k PER SEAT for the front, and $2500 for the rear. To save you some math, that's nearly $15k for the full car, before tax, and not even installed lol.

Much like I did after that conversation, I would give up on the "maybe I'll get them new from the dealership" thought!

Edit:
Oh, and I emailed Recaro directly asking about purchasing the OEM seats, but they never even replied.
For that, I'd just get the Recaro Japan SP-X seats for 10k each lol. Used will be the way to go for me.

Yeah I've seen some pretty good deals on the forums but passed them up because I didn't think I needed them at the time. Now the for sale posts seem to be much less frequent. Pretty sure I'll buy the next pair I see for sale.

I hear you there. I'm actually talking to a couple people I found through Facebook right now about them, but neither live near me, and am waiting to hear what shipping might be.

In all honesty, I'm so torn on even buying them in the first place. I love how the interior of the car looks currently.. the black/red FE colors. I've never actually seen the Recaro seats in person for the X, so I'm not sure if they will be the same black or not. A lot of the pictures I see online make them look more gray, which just wouldn't look as good even if I sharpie the stitching red.

Can anyone confirm that all Recaros are black? Also, to those that have made the swap, how does the color compare to the stock FE seats?

So to do the swap, do we need the brackets that came with the recaros?

What else is needed? Seatbelt buckle, and that is it?

I am pretty sure it is a simple swap. Although you may want to leave the air bag sensor from the passenger side seat on the recaro's so that you dont have to go to the dealer to re-calibrate the sensor. Everything is plug n play.

Sensor, is the plug underneath correct?

Recaros mount right to the factory brackets? So when I buy a set, just need seats?

Correct. From what I have heard so far the factory brackets are the same. There is another thread on this. Bottom of page.

You need to keep the sensors that come with the passenger recaro seat. They are heavier and will throw off the weight sensor on the crappy lancer seats. If you get seats without the sensor you will just have to got to mitsu dealer and have them re-calibrate the sensor. It would take them five minutes.

I just did this a few weeks ago on my '15 MR-T not Final Edition, but same steps involved.

You use your original passenger seat weight sensors, module and both belt buckles. And a lot of dealerships can't/won't re-calibrate the sensors or modules as they are VIN coded.
Make sure you leave your negative battery cable disconnected while you have the seat wiring unplugged.

This whole lower bracket that holds the weight sensors and module can be directly swapped over from your original seats to the Recaros.
Easiest way is to just leave everything hooked up as so and simply swap the whole assembly over.

here are pics of mine... when thats all done, you should have this and no airbag lights!

Thanks for that post elocinX671. Awesome info. I thought just the seats were enough. I definitely don't want an airbag light. Most seats I see for sale were without the brackets. Another hurdle now.

I guess people who go aftermarket non Recaro seats all have airbag lights? This sucks.

You can install aftermarket seats and use a resistor to trick the computer, or with a lot of modification bolt your original weight sensors and module to the new passenger seat.

If the airbag light is on, then it will disable all passenger airbags.. so it's definitely a safety concern.
