Oh wow! Thanks for telling me that too!! Didn't know if the light was on it would disable the airbags. Learning a lot.

This and there are plenty of options. You figure a leather OEM set will cost you some money. Why not be different and get a different set. There are dozens to pick from here and not all are terrible expensive.

These guys are also a vendor on this forum so PM them. They should have some insight on installing them on an Evo.

Could you pm the links to where you got your seats? I haven't had any luck on ebay, craigslist, etc. I never thought about FB pages.

I'm actually a fan of the SR-7 style seats. I'm not sure if the can order black seats with red stitching to match the FE interior, but that would be sick. Maybe if we get enough people who are interested, we can get a grouo buy rate from BP Auto.

I've also been looking into the aftermarket options, as I really do like the thought of getting "new" seats for the car, as opposed to even lightly used. With that said, I am talking to a couple people currently about the Recaros...

I was also looking at the SR-7 seats, and would potentially be interested in a group buy as well if you get any traction on this. I've been looking for seats with red stitching, but so far the nice ones that I've found are super expensive.

I'm very torn on going with aftermarket seats though, as I'm not sure how much of a pain it will be to handle the weight sensors, find the right rails/mounting brackets, etc. I know you just use a resistor to bypass the airbags, but I'm not really in a position to fabricate anything to mount the passenger weight sensors to.

Also, total side note, but did you notice that we don't actually have red stitching on our rear seats? I was looking at some pictures the other day, and noticed that the Canadian cars have red stitching in the back too... they didn't even bother doing that in the US cars!

Ehhh I have PM'd these guys on two different forums asking about their seats...

No response. I guess they dont like money. Demon Tweeks is hands down the cheapest place I can find seats at this point in time.

I hear you. Im going back and forth too. Stock used recaro seems like a natural swap. You know, i didnt realize the stitch wasnt red in the back until i looked at lunch time lol. Honestly, Mitsu owes the US market for this crap.

I say just get some Recaro Pole Position or SPG's depending on your waist size The OEM X Recaros are pretty heavy.

Yea lol.. my FE has been in the garage since Xmas, and after seeing the pictures the other day I didn't remember seeing any red stitching in mine. I checked that night when I got home from work, and sure enough, nothing. Talk about adding insult to injury... we didn't even get a full cars worth of red accent stitching!

I'm looking at the SR-7 LASSIC Black x Red seat. I think it compliments the interior best. Would anyone know if the OEM brackets can be used? I'm going to see if we can get some group buy rates.

Currently chatting with BPAUTO. Trying to put together a buy for the SR-7 LASSIC BLACK x RED seats (come in high and low bolster ). For the right price, who would be interested? I think this is a perfect match for the FE interior. The red stitch is a nice touch. Classy look. Evo feel. Unique. If anyone is interested, let me know. The more, the merrier.

I would have been interested, but I can't get any straight answers as to how you go about dealing with the weight sensors. So far I've heard you can just disable them completely in ETACS, but I've yet to receive answers to my follow-up questions on how to do about that, and what the negatives of doing this are (can the dealership tell, will they think the car is modded, void warranties, etc).

As of right now I'm talking with someone about getting the OEM Recaro seats, so might just do that as they will come with much less headaches (and airbags).

As far as I know, the OEM sensor is mated to the bracket and can be installed in the aftermarket Recaro. The sensor just has to be recalibrated for the weight difference in seats, which Mitsubishi does in 5 minutes.

Are you talking actual aftermarket seats (Recaro, Sparco, Bride, etc), or the OEM Recaros? I wasn't aware that any aftermarket seats had brackets/rails that you could mount the weight sensors to without having to fabricate some extra mounting hardware, and I didn't think that the OEM brackets/rails would work for any aftermarket seats.

Do they make aftermarket seats that just bolt right on to our stock hardware?

damn those 2015 DOT restrictions... look how nice the red stitching looks on the OEM Recaros... Basically the JDM FE is an MR with a 5 speed tranny and the other cosmetic stuff.. Note this car is 0000.
