Post Any tuners in SD area!

Anyone in here from the San Diego area, that might know a trustworthy enough shop that can tune my X.

Thx bro, I will search them out. Would u say 5150 is better than cobb tuning since there both near by to eachothers.

I think 5150 has a slight edge because they are more EVO oriented where Cobb is more Subaru and then got into EVO's after. Honestly one of the best tuners for the EVO is at 5150 from what I hear.

ill tell you the difference: cobb is much more transparent, you will get a lot more data and hard numbers and details. cobb has very good tunes, but i dont feel like they give a full custom tune. they know what to do, and how to make it safe power.I feel like they have a base tune for a set of mods, the load the closest one and make the correct adjustments and done.

5150: on the other hand, you get hardly anything data wise, i guess they are worried about being copied. seen it many times: same car, same mods 5150 just makes faster cars, better running cars, and much better trims. doesn't mean more power, but how it is tuned is just faster. I'm guessing this comes from a full custom tune, your car is gone along time with jon, and most of the time you are NOT there when he tunes the car. they use the lowest reading dyno, ive ever used and they are booked forever in advance sometimes.

5150: also is the only ones doing the FF, real full time in CA.

I'm from San Diego. My previous 2010 Evo X MR was tuned by Jon Drenas aka BakaUnchi at 5150 Racing. Great tune. Put down 305/325 on a Mustang Dyno with Bolt Ons on 93 fuel. Talk to Raphael Blydon (I don't know if I spelled his name correctly). He work the admin position at 5150 Racing. He a good guy. I sold him my Volk CE28 rims.

My new Evo X will be going to them for install. I'm staying away from tuning this time (warranty purposes).

Steven aka Dr. Boost if a great tuner but I personally feel his expertise is aimed towards the Evo 8 & 9.

I just got tuned with Steven (Dr. Boost) and I have a 2010 Evo X. With bolt ons, cams, ID1100 injectors and the MAP fuel upgrade kit I put down 395 hp/392 tq on his mustang dyno. This is on E85.

I'll be getting my X MR tuned by Dr. Boost next Friday. I've heard alot of good things about him. He also posts videos on Facebook of evos on the dyno, and they all make pretty good power.

DR Boost. He does Evo X's as well as Evo 8 & 9s and does them very well. This is a tuner speaking.

5150 is your best bet. I am not sure what the other person was talking about but I was there for the tune. The dyno is in it's own enclosure but you can see through the glass. As far as low reading Dyno, who cares. It's just a tuning tool. You can tell people whatever you want but if it feels faster then it's faster.

I got my 2015 MR tuned by Dr Boost last week. With only intake, cb, hfc, and 3 port, my car made 307/305 on a mustang dyno. I wish I remember what the baseline numbers were, but I think stock MR's are between 230-240whp on mustang dynos.

So far I'm very happy with the tune!!
