Evo X Final Edition Worth the Money?
Used low mileage 2013-14 X's are all over the internet.
How many examples would it take for you to believe you can get a low mileage GSR for less than 28K. https://www.carstory.com/cars/make-m...ncer_evolution

And buying a 40k plus miles Evo could be bang or bust. You could be throwing 28 thousand at someone who screwed up the car and is looking for an easy cash out so they can go get a new one. Not everyone's like that obviously, but if you do get the bad one and get stuck with a money pit, then you just wasted 28 thousand and maybe will put even more into it. So it is kind of pointless to argue that paying 28 thousand for a 40k miles Evo is somehow the superior option.
Yes, very happy! (Did you think you were going to convince me to drive back to the Mitsu dealer and get on my knees and beg them to take it back?
). If I ever get to the point where I don't like it, I'll certainly let everyone know though.

I cannot believe what I am reading... an EVO as an investment? Really? I love these cars but like ONE person said here... unless you are looking to let it sit and have your grandkids sell it 30 years from now... maybe.. because this car is only worth more money to us the enthusiasts.. and not the rest of the world.
Look at any low mileage Evo 8 or 9... the only folks that are paying the ridiculous high price for what is left of them is ... US... the Evo is not a car the average folk even bothers to consider buying.
The reason why someone said to just get a 14 GSR... is if you plan on modding it. And as much as any of you may say now that you will leave the car stock is another joke because we all know most folks that own Evos can never fight the mod itch for long.
As for paying anything over MSRP is a waste of money. I went to a dealership about 2 months ago and they had FEs marked up by 4k.. I laughed at them because not only did they have 4 FEs in their showroom.. but they had 9 2014 GSRs in the back lot. Other than the badging... any other item on the FE can be replaced by a far superior aftermarket item. But like someone said... unless you really are going to leave it stock.. all those stock extras are worth poop.
And the one that said the 5 speed is bullet proof... lol.. Evos are know for their tranny issues. You can have tranny issues with a GSR or MR... the latter obviously being more expensive to replace. I recently bought my 2013 MR for 34k with 9k miles on it. Stock with every possible option on it. Sticker was 46750. Would I pay that much for an EVO... hell no. That is why I say the FE is not worth the money unless you are paying invoice for it.
But its your money... what is worth to someone may not be worth as much to another person. An Evo is an Evo.. and the FE is not something that Mitsu went so out of the way to make significantly better over the standard models. I mean unless it was an FQ360 equivalent... I can see being worth more than MSRP. But in the UK that is 16k bump over an FQ300.. but part of that is by the currency difference but that is another topic.
Congrats on your Evo... I will wait til you FE owners post your first of many mods

Man enough with this bull****, all he said was that buying a car as an investment is a bad idea - that is true 99.9% of the time unless you are buying and selling actually exclusive cars like a limited edition Ferrari.
Now what is true is the FE will bring more used, than a regular Lancer. Will it be like winning the lottery? Hell no. But maybe you get 4-5k more than a comparably priced used EVO of the same year.
Nobody has a crystal ball but I can't imagine when I'm 80 and rich going 'Man I'd pay a million for a used 2015 EVO!' That's just reality, as this is a really neat car but it's never going to be a collector car except as a nostalgic 'remember when' to the small fraction of car enthusiasts that even know what an EVO is.
Enjoy the car, and power to anyone that got an FE and **** the haters. You bought a fun car, the last of it's kind, and enjoy the exclusivity of it. I wouldn't waste a nanosecond defending the decision to a bunch of glass half full negative nancies. You only live once so **** it.
Carry on.

Sold! (PS I never mentioned investment)
I bought it and drove it home today! Thanks for all the input! I wasn't looking for an investment, but coming from an MR, a GSR was too much of a downgrade. I wanted HID's, light weight brembos, an Aluminum roof, a five speed, Eibach springs, rain sensing wipers, auto headlights, etc. Sort of a mix between an MR and a GSR. This car is perfect to have all of that and likely the last chance ever to buy a virgin Evo. Plus, keeping my BBS wheels and Recaro seats is amazing!
On the flip side, I have a growing list of things that I'd like to do to it, so I'm a little torn. Between this, and the lack of the Recaro seats ( I know that I can get them, but then I'd want to reupholster them in FE colors, which is a lot of money just to get something that should have been in the car in the first place ), I almost wish that I didn't buy the FE ( which should NOT be how I feel after finally getting my realistic "dream car" ).
I knew when I looked at the car that I might go down the same path. I think it's important to just have fun with it though. If you didn't have it, someone else would who might abuse it and do far worse things than you. Part of an Evo's life cycle is being modded, so don't feel bad for doing it. IMHO, you have the best car money can buy! I plan on doing some basic mods and keeping the stock parts nearby if I want to revert. I would do more but I want my warranty and reliability. Plus, it's pretty incredible stock.
I don't think so. I found a diagram in the shop manual and no airbag is shown. http://www.evoxservicemanual.co.uk/P...000800-52A.pdf
Agreed. But what's the fun in that??
Great to hear! This is what I will be doing over the next few days. Brining over my leather seats and STiR Plus (which is installed behind the dash)

In my situation, it was different. Initially I was looking for a 15 GSR Base. I went to a dealer close to me and found a WW base. They wanted $35,800 + 3K mark up + TTL. They said my monthly will be around $680 for 72 months.
They also offered me a used 14 WW Base with 39K miles, powder coated rims (a lot of paint chips on the rims) and visible 3m tape from the removed window visors for I believed is $27K to $29K (sorry I don't remember).
They have a $10K mark up on their FEs (around $50K).
I walked away.
A few days later I went to pick up a 15 Diamond White FE from a different dealer for below MSRP. My monthly payment is below $680 for 60 months.
I don't think I got a steal but I definitely got a better deal than getting a 15 GSR Base .

All we've been saying is that the car will be worth more than a non-FE. Doesn't seem to be a crazy idea. I've still not seen anyone claim that they were buying it as an investment. Have you? Tell us who they are ;0
I probably will leave the car stock cause it's already a blast to drive and I've been through the mod bug with my Eclipse. If I get the mod bug again maybe I'll get rid of the eclipse and get a used older Evo and mod that. It's not like I can never mod anything else again unless I mod the FE, there will be plenty of other cars out there man
But yea if I change my mind I'll make it known.

Was it plug and play to get the seat heaters going or did you have to modify it? I'm guessing that all evo's have the plug in the center console for the seat heater...
I am looking at buying a new car this week. I looked at STI's but I can't seem to like the boxer engine or AWD system (though I love the interior). I came across a final edition for $41k. The dealer said it has:
Thanks for the help! I am really struggling with this decision.
- Aero package
- Upgraded wing
- Different front grille (it was shiny not matte)
- 5 speed with changed gear ratios - is this true? Is it equally strong to the classic 5 speed?
- Aluminum black roof
- No Recaros
Thanks for the help! I am really struggling with this decision.
Hey, I live in Canada and went through this same thing myself. I ended up getting a GSR with the Handling Package over the FE. I couldn't bring myself to pay the $5000 difference when the car I was getting has the same suspension, same trans, ya less power but is it really noticeable? My car has aluminum roof instead of steel, same BBS wheels (in Canada we have no options for the FE). All FE's are the same. I wish I could have gotten an FE with no sunroof with the BBS wheels. I'm very happy with my GSR. Had the car for 1 month and it has 3500KM.

I don't think anyone is hating... and like I said. Some things are worth more to some folks than others. To most folks, an FE is just a label on the trunk of the car just like the SE Xs they released in 2010.
OP is happy with his car and his decision and that is all that matters at the end of the day. No need to get uptight and start seeing asterisks all over your post.
His situation and point of view is different than it was for the OP since he already had an MR. To me, this makes more sense because paying $10k over sticker is absurd unless money is just not an issue.
