Evo X Final Edition Worth the Money?
The dealer said that Mitsu wasn't willing to pay to crash test the seats given that this is the final year of the car. He said that every part should be plug and play and I've found this to be true.
I've swapped my Recaros into my FE and they fit great. It even had the connector for the heated seats already. Now I need to swap over the heated seat switches and maybe fuses/relays. The airbag light came on, but Mitsu was able to quickly recalibrate the weight sensors this morning.
Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm definitely happy with my purchase. I just have a bit of a partial throttle stutter to figure out..
The lack of Recaros was something I considered when I bought my FE, and while I would have preferred to have them, it's not a deal breaker. At the end of the day they are seats. I'm not planning on going on the world rally tour so the functionality in reality is not that huge. It's more of a "look" thing, and I figured I am already getting a limited edition car with a special look to it. So yea it's a negative but I think it's a bit unecessary in the big picture to fixate that much on a pair of seats.
Whether you auto x or not, those seats were a HUGE selling point for the Evo over the years, and to go out in 2015 like a *****, Mitsu really let me down.
You don't have to be Vin to know those seats are worth their weight in gold, and the 2015 seats are straight up trash. I don't care how comfortable they are, this car is not a Cadillac.

So to have to go spend extra money to re-outfit your Evo with seats whether OEM or aftermarket is still costly to the average owner. Mitsubishi clearly didn't want to spend the cash to have Recaro meet the new US DOT standard for just one more year so they just slapped what they have to sell the 2015s.
At least there's plenty of OEM Recaro seats from wrecked Xs since its been the longest running model of the 3 here is the US.

True, people just want a fortune for them, and I don't blame them.
I went and checked out a few FE that were at a local dealership. They look great, loved the wheels, but I drove up there sitting in leather recaros in my 14 EVO and those seats in the FE...um...wow. Just awful. Is there a leather option of the FE and are those seats better?

I was at Puente Hills Mitsubishi (Eastern LA). They had approximately 20 Final Editions sitting on the lot (two were in the showroom). I asked the sales manager regarding their sale volume with Final Editions. He said they're selling well despite not being equipped with Recaros seats. I personally would not buy one but it is an excellent model for the last year.
Sorry but 12 hp and 5 more torque is a drop in the bucket for an evo.....a good dyno tune will get 2-3 times that much out of a reg evo x. I dont care that mitsu added xxxx to the gear ratio and it is a little different. I would be more interested in speed. The final edition is a joke. The final edition should have been a 400 hp monster not a drop in the bucket change from a reg evo x.
Well when you are on the race track going 90mph+ through a turn, you don't want your *** to move at all because one mistake or twitch and you're going into a wall..

It is not just visual differences. It's as easy as looking at the Mitsubishi website to see the spec differences.
