Tune with a catback and panel filter?

I have a 2015 EVO FE I was wondering if I threw a catback exhaust and a drop in a new panel filter if it would require a tune, or if it's highly recommended ?

you honestly don't need a tune with that. Kozmic claims 10-15hp gains just off of the panel filter.

Nope, no tune needed. But no tune, no gains.

You will see a bit of gain from a drop in filter, I'd recommend the Cosworth since you don't have to oil it. Oiled intakes are sometimes more trouble than they are worth. If you add too much oil you can foul up your MAF sensor.

Nope, no gains. A bit leaner maybe. Need to adjust ecu tuning to see any gains on a turbo.

Incorrect I had a dyno done on my car with just a panel filter and it was 10-15hp more than when it was stock . I didn't expect gains, but they were there and the powerband was much smoother. Just speaking from experience, not someone that is wishfully thinking!

I have the cosworth drop in filter, and I have to agree with the above. No tune needed

Thanks for this thread! Wanted to go catback, no test pipe, and wasn't certain about needing a tune right now. Thank you all!

Quick question...

If I'm not mistaken, adding a Cosworth drop in filter will make the car run a bit more lean, which is typically fine since Evos run a bit rich from the factory.. is this correct?

If so, people have found that the factory FE tune is already a bit lean (maybe not to a dangerous degree like some claimed, but a bit lean nonetheless), so could there be any potential issues from adding the filter without a tune?

you don't need a tune, if changes only being made after the catalytic converter or/ and drop in filter.

I noticed zero ill effects after running one for a couple months before I got full bolt ons.

Any gains you see would be from your car running leaner on the super-rich/safe factory tune. That said, it's not a big enough change to see big gains or run into any issues either.

If you're trying to stay away from big mods, a panel filter/cat back/and boost solenoid plus a tune gets you a pretty good bump in power.
