Well with the death of the Evo line, I think its fair to expand to being a "turbo awd car guy."Originally Posted by Boostedep3

With the WRC changes for 2017, I expect to see some pretty exciting homologation cars. Some of those will undoubtedly make it to US shores. Plus they inspire cars like the upcoming Hyundai i30N.

OP, if what you have is really evo fever, wait till it wears off so you don't even have to buy one.
If you really want one, however, you should test drive both in as stock as form as you can find them.
If you buy any of them used, have an additional $5,000 saved on the side just in case you need to make some quick repair of problems that did not show themselves before you bought the car. Other than that, I think you'll be happy with an 8,9, or a 10. This is especially true if this is your first AWD turbo car.
Watch for transfer case whine, rod knock, transmission grind and gear engagement issues. These are just a few issues that happen to be common in a car that was built to be beat to hell and back.

Totally agree with the above. A lot of great contenders coming out next year, find it in yourself to hold out and check them all out. Originally Posted by nemsin

The new generation STi and Focus RS are two that Im looking forward to

If you still don't like any of them, you can always get a X. The prices would have gone done a bit more as well since you have waited a year.

Assuming OP is looking to spend that much, yes.Originally Posted by VDubJCabe

OP said his budget was around 30k. If he saves for a year it should put him in the 35-38k range. I know waiting sucks, but we really are about to enter a golden era for sub-40K awd turbo cars. Wait and see.

I was guestimating. The monthly payment on a 30k auto loan (5 year term) at 3% is $332/month. Then say another $120 a month in insurance. So if he can afford ~$500 a month now, then saving that money for a year equals $6K.Originally Posted by kaj

Assuming he wasn't putting anything down, assuming his insurance, and assuming he's disciplined enough, maybe. Assuming the prices of those cars end up in that price range after only a year. Assuming a lot of things.Originally Posted by nemsin

So you think he should just buy a used Evo now instead of waiting for the next crop of cars to arrive? (since 30K wont get him a new X)
I suspect a lot of new X owners will secretly wish they had waited for the ___ (Focus RS, STI, CTR, i30N, etc.)

Given his budget, yeah. Like you said, $30k isn't enough for a new X so he'll have to go used. No sense in waiting. Originally Posted by nemsin

As for wishing they bought something else, possibly. We all have "what-ifs" and "grass is always greener", etc LOL.
