Convince me to buy an evo....but which one??

I've got evo fever. My GTS won't do. I want a IX, but I am scared of getting someone else's junk with high miles (what is high, maybe 50K+?) and that is too far from stock...Plus people are smoking crack and I have seen some of these drivers asking upwards of 30,000 USD. That gets me thinking; man, just get a NEW EVO X. Why not?
What does everyone think? Wait it out and hope to find the holy grail; Evo IX with less than 50K miles for under $25K USD? Get the EVO X (the price is roughly around 30K, give or take). Buy a used 2012-2014, and pray that it hasn't been abused?

the 9 and 10 are very different. You should drive both before deciding which one suites you better. I think low mileage, good condition evo 9's are only going to become more rare and probably more expensive as time passes.

I agree. I like the raw power of the 9. The "lightness" of it as well. The X feels to me more of a "big brother"; more sophisticated. I guess it really boils down to personal preference/

I was in the same situation, just get the X. makes power more easily since it is a lot more advanced.

You should see what is even available in your area. There are only two new GSRs within 100 miles of me and just a few 40k fes. So at least in south FL the new ones are becoming scarce.

I think if I had to pick and didnt already have an X, I would pick the X. Both cars have their limits and the X I found had all the options I wanted and its newer.

OP: you may want to post the same question in the VIII/IX section as well, that way you get opinions from people that own/enjoy both.

Similar situation. I couldn't find a 8/9 that wasn't beat to hell or had a crazy amount of miles. Comming from a lancer, I was also tired of the same interior.

Hated the look of the X until I finally saw it in person. Ended up getting one after a test drive. Like posted above... depends on what you're looking for. Take them both for a ride and see what you think.

Budget would be around 30k..I see the new Xs are rapidly approaching that point, so I may wait a few months and bite the bullet

I've ridden in a X at an Autox event. AYC works magic. I had to learn to make my car do what AYC does on it's own. Impressive.

I would wait a year. There will be a lot of interesting cars on the horizon. Focus RS, Civic type R, fifth gen STI (with new chassis&engine), Hyundai i30 N. There will still be 2015 X's floating around if you decide to go that route.
