Looking to buy a used Evo

I am looking to buy a used Evo X GSR... relatively new, 2012-2014. I have noticed that most of the the ones I see for sale around here are for sale by private-type used dealerships and auto brokers, not by big brand name dealers. Any idea why? How do all of these cars end up at dealers like this?
Also, because my local 5 mitsu dealerships only have 2 used GSRs between them, if I get one from one of these autobrokers, I guess it would be a good idea to check with Mistubishi first to see the status of the warranty?

One way or another, be sure to take the car to a different shop (preferably a Mitsubishi dealer) for a full diagnosis before you buy. It costs you only a hundred bucks or so, but can prevent blunders after.

I guess I must have been really lucky. I bought my used '12 with 52k miles back in March and I already got 64k miles now (I drive far to work) and it's been a champ!

Also, that goes without saying maintenance is key, I have already done 4 oil changes and about to change all the drivetrain fluids again (I serviced the drivetrain as soon as I bought it).

It also probably helps that I myself have been around modified cars and performance cars for over 12 years so I knew what to look for when buying used.

As the gentleman above said, take to a trusted shop and get at least 2 different opinions. You will not regret it.

Around here a lot of Evos get auctioned off when they are traded in. It is usually the small used car lots that end up with them that way. In some cases these small lots are affiliated with large lots and get their trade-ins.

If I were to buy a used Evo, I would try hard to buy from a previous owner. That way you have a chance to get history on the car, and read the situation. Did the owner take car of the car? Are they a slob? Did they smoke? Were they really hard on the car? etc
