high pitch wine

I just installed an ams intake, intercooler, upper and lower piping with the tial BOV. I changed the map on the car to include the new parts. These are the only aftermarket parts I have on the car. Now at around 4000 rpm on up I get a high pitch wine that I can only describe as air being released from the end of a ballon. It's not the turbo spooling or the BOV. I have double and triple checked to make.sure all the hoses are on and tight which they are.
Any suggestions on what it might be?

You changed the map on the car, as in you had it protuned by a tuner that is great with EVO's?

I have the Cobb access tuner. Had the stage 1 map which was for a stock evo. I went in and changed tables to reflect the ams intake I have. I got the new tables values from the Cobb site.

What part of MD are you in? I'd be happy to take a listen and see if I can help troubleshoot it for you.

I think you need a proper tune on the car, personally. Even if you're not close to someone there are great e-tuners out there.

have you boost leak tested? the high pitch sounds like a boost leak.

I live in moco. I didn't think it was leaking boost since the boost levels have been the usual. I haven't done any hard pulls though. I do plan on getting it tuned by a shop as soon as I put on the turbo back exhaust. Just used the Cobb tune to make it drivable.

Can you make the sound in the driveway by just revving to 4K?
If so - carefully listen at the turbo (touch it with a long socket extension to your ear) and then the accessories for a bad bearing. Be careful of the spinning bits, eh!

Also, do a boost leak test. Just hitting your target boost does not rule out a small leak.
Maybe half a turn on a clamp (I know you checked yours, this is my example) fixed a noisy boost leak on mine... It can be a real small leak.

Did you figure this out?
I had the same thing, but it goes away as soon as i turn the cobb ap off. It can still be connected to the car but as long as it's off i do not get the high pitched sound.

The high pitch sound comes from the AP as far as i can tell. Nothing to do with the car itself just from the Cobb AP.

Mine does it with the cobb attached or not. I will not make the noise just revin it only under load. I have noticed it also doesn't make the noise until the boost get to 10+ pounds. I have went though and redone all the clamps and it is still making the noise. any other suggestion?

This is just wrong. Had basically OPs parts and going from the Cobb OTS Map to a pro-tune by AMS wasn't a big difference. It netted me a bit more peak horsepower, but not enough to feel with the butt dyno. I do trust it as being reliable, but it lost a LOT of daily driveabilty as it's basically an on/off boost switch and partial throttle control is impossible.

Pro-tunes can be good, but they aren't the end all be all, and cobb OTS tunes is definitely the way to go if you are still in the process of purchasing car mods.

Also,

Have the same setup and same noise. I'm pretty sure it's a boost leak issue, been meaning to get on testing that. I'll let you know if I do figure it out.

Same situation too. Only under load and when boost gets to above 15 or so psi in the 4000+ rpm range.

Certainly sounds like a boost leak to me. I once forgot to tighten the UICP after working under the hood and 5 minutes into driving the clamp popped off which gave the sound you're describing.
