Best method to finding clunks?

Anybody have any techniques to finding clunks? I have a stethoscope, but how do you guys find where they are without being able to listen and drive? I've already checked for loose bolts and what not.

For the record, the sound is front end, any bumps in the road and it sounds like someones knocking on the front door. I can even feel it through the footwell.

Id suspect strut hats depending on mileage.
Also a bad rack can make this concern.
Also front end sway bar end links

At the dealer we use chassis ears. There is 6 channels,6sensors to strap to different objects.

If it is clunking bad I think the endlinks is a good place to start. That is something you can check yourself and I believe you need to tighten those up with the suspension loaded not unloaded. Good luck on finding the issue!
